What it limits is where the site lives, the ads Wix shows on it, and what switches on only when you pay: your domain, payments, and Google Analytics. Using your own domain on Wix's free plan

No. Wix's guide to building a site for free answers “No, connecting a custom domain requires upgrading to a plan.” A free landing page keeps an address in the form yourname.wixsite.com/yoursite.

The cheapest plan that connects one is Light. Wix lists it at $17 a month, billed yearly, or $24 a month if you pay month to month. Light also removes Wix's ads. A paid plan, in Wix's words, “allows you to connect your own domain (either purchased from Wix or from another domain host), remove the Wix ads, and much more”.

If you stop paying later, Wix's help center says “Your website will remain live but will display Wix ads”.

Do Wix forms work on the free plan?

Yes. Wix's help center says “Without upgrading, you can create 4 forms for free.” Every entry lands in your site's dashboard. Wix's words are that you can “go to Forms & Submissions in your site's dashboard to see every submission, from every form, without opening each form individually”.

The limit Wix describes is the number of forms, not a monthly count of entries. The paid Light plan names the same number: “The Light plan includes 4 lead-capture forms.”

Can you run a business on a free Wix page

Wix's pages set no rule against running a business on a free page. The line is selling: “No eCommerce functionality or way to take payments, so if you're planning to sell online, you'll need a paid plan.” That leaves a free page fine for a waitlist, a portfolio, or a contact page, and short of a shop.

Wix Free's other limits

• Storage and bandwidth: Wix's help center says “You'll enjoy 500MB storage and 1GB bandwidth.”
• Visitor stats: “It is not possible to use Google Analytics with a free Wix site.” Wix ties Google Analytics to a connected domain, so it starts with a paid plan.
• Your own code: There is no way to upload an HTML page. The Embed HTML element places a snippet, and Wix notes “Note: The HTML and URL elements in our editor are iFrames.”

What the Wix ad banner looks like

Wix's help center lists it plainly: “Wix ads appear on every page & favicon in URL”. Convika's check of 2 free Wix sites on October 12, 2026, loaded without an account, shows it in the markup. Both carry an element with the id WIX_ADS that reads “This website was built on Wix. Create yours today.” next to a Get Started link to wix.com. The page's CSS sets --wix-ads-top-height:50px, so the banner is a 50-pixel bar across the top of every page, above your own header.

One of the 2 sites has a contact form with name, email, and message fields. Its <form> tag has no action attribute. Wix's own JavaScript sends each entry, and it arrives in the site's dashboard.
