Cloudflare Pages limits on the free plan (2026)

Quick answer

Cloudflare Pages' free plan allows 500 builds a month, “up to 20,000 files” a site, and 25 MiB a file, per its limits doc updated September 5, 2026. “Requests to static assets are free and unlimited,” and Pages Functions share the Workers Free plan's 100,000 requests a day.

On this page

Cloudflare Pages' free plan allows 500 builds a month, and a site “can contain up to 20,000 files on the Free plan,” each up to 25 MiB, per Cloudflare's Pages limits doc, last updated September 5, 2026. Serving static files has no cap: “On both free and paid plans, requests to static assets are free and unlimited,” per the Pages Functions pricing doc, last updated September 8, 2026. Server code is counted: Pages Functions share the Workers Free plan's 100,000 requests a day.

Cloudflare's docs were read on November 1, 2026. Each shows its own date, and the Sources at the end of this page list them.

The ones this page draws on most: the Pages limits (last updated September 5, 2026), Pages Functions pricing (September 8, 2026), Functions routing (September 18, 2026), Workers pricing (October 2, 2026), and Workers limits (October 29, 2026). Limits change, so check them before you launch.

Whether a business may use the free plan is a separate question. The page Is Cloudflare Pages free for commercial use? applies Cloudflare's terms case by case. This page covers the numbers.

Every Cloudflare Pages free-plan limit, and what happens past it

The table lists each limit Cloudflare's docs give for the Free plan, what they say happens past it, and what paid plans change. Each row links the doc it comes from. Where a doc gives a limit but not what happens at it, the table says so.

Builds: 500 a month, 1 at a time

A Git-connected project builds on every push: “Each time you push new code to your Git repository, Pages will build and deploy your site.” The Free plan runs 1 build at a time, counted across the whole account, and stops a build after 20 minutes. Cloudflare's Pro and Business plans raise the monthly cap to 5,000 and 20,000 builds.

The limits doc doesn't say what happens at the 501st build in a month. It also doesn't say whether a Direct Upload counts toward the 500. A Direct Upload sends “prebuilt assets,” a folder you built yourself, by drag and drop in the dashboard or with Wrangler, so no build runs on Cloudflare.

2 ways to run fewer builds on Cloudflare, from its own docs:

  • Skip a push. Start the commit message with [CI Skip], [Skip CI], or [CF-Pages-Skip], and “Pages will omit that deployment,” per the GitHub integration doc, last updated October 15, 2026.
  • Build somewhere else and upload. A Direct Upload project takes a folder from Wrangler or the dashboard. A Git project can't become one, but it can stop building on every push. The Git integration doc: “If you deploy using the Git integration, you cannot switch to Direct Upload later. However, if you already use a Git-integrated project and do not want to trigger deployments every time you push a commit, you can disable automatic deployments on all branches. Then, you can use Wrangler to deploy directly to your Pages projects and make changes to your Git repository without automatically triggering a build.” Only drag and drop stays closed. The Direct Upload doc adds: “you cannot use drag and drop on the dashboard with existing Git-integrated projects.”

Files and file size: 20,000 files, 25 MiB each

The Free plan holds 20,000 files a site. “Paid plans (such as Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans) can have up to 100,000 files per site,” once you set the environment variable PAGES_WRANGLER_MAJOR_VERSION=4 in the project's settings.

Every plan has the same file size limit: “The maximum file size for a single Cloudflare Pages site asset is 25 MiB.” For a bigger video or download, Cloudflare's advice is to put it in R2 and serve it from a public bucket.

How you upload changes the count. The Direct Upload doc lists 20,000 files for Wrangler and 1,000 files for drag and drop, 25 MiB each. With drag and drop, “a red warning symbol will appear next to an asset if too large,” and that file isn't uploaded; to replace it, “you must reupload the entire project.” Drag and drop also can't compile a functions folder, so Pages Functions need Wrangler or Git.

Pages Functions and the Workers free plan

Pages Functions are Workers for billing. Cloudflare's Functions pricing doc: “Requests to your Pages Functions count towards your quota for the Workers Free plan. For example, you could use 50,000 Functions requests and 50,000 Workers requests to use your full 100,000 daily request usage. The free plan daily request limit resets at midnight UTC.” The limits doc adds that the count includes “requests from your Function to KV or Durable Object bindings.”

Adding a Function can make every request count. The routing doc: “On a purely static project, Pages offers unlimited free requests. However, once you add Functions on a Pages project, all requests by default will invoke your Function.” A _routes.json file keeps static paths out, and Pages writes one for you when it finds a functions folder. It takes at most 100 include and exclude rules, each up to 100 characters.

When the day's 100,000 run out, a Free account chooses what visitors get, under Settings > Runtime > Fail open / closed: “‘Fail open’ means that static assets will continue to be served, even if Pages Functions would ordinarily have run first. ‘Fail closed’ means an error page will be returned, rather than static assets.” Each request also gets 10 ms of CPU time on Workers Free; a Function that goes over it gets Error 1102, “Worker exceeded resource limits.”

Cloudflare's Workers Paid plan removes the daily cap “for a minimum charge of $5 USD per month for an account.” It includes 10 million requests a month, then $0.30 per additional million, and 30 million CPU milliseconds, then $0.02 per additional million.

Bandwidth: what Cloudflare says, and what it doesn't

Cloudflare's Pages docs name no bandwidth limit.

In the full Pages documentation Cloudflare publishes for AI tools (llms-full.txt), searched on November 1, 2026, the word “bandwidth” comes up only about other products, such as R2.

What Cloudflare does say:

  • Static files are free. “On both free and paid plans, requests to static assets are free and unlimited. A request is considered static when it does not invoke Functions.”
  • No data transfer bill on Workers Paid. The Workers pricing doc, which covers Pages Functions, says of that plan: “There are no additional charges for data transfer (egress) or throughput (bandwidth).”
  • A limit Cloudflare can apply. The Developer Platform terms, last updated September 28, 2026, name Cloudflare Pages and say “Cloudflare may temporarily limit your storage and/or the number of requests you can make or receive using the Developer Platform if processing such requests would put an undue burden on the Cloudflare network.” The same terms say “Unlike most Cloudflare products, the Developer Platform can be used to host content.”

Cloudflare doesn't say how much traffic counts as an undue burden or how long such a limit lasts.

Custom domains and projects

A Cloudflare Pages project on Free can have 100 custom domains. Cloudflare's Pro plan allows 250 a project and Business 500. Per the custom domains doc, last updated April 21, 2026, a subdomain such as www.example.com doesn't need Cloudflare's nameservers: “it is not necessary for your site to be a Cloudflare zone.” Add the domain in the project's Custom domains tab first, then the CNAME record at your DNS provider. A CNAME record added before the domain is set up in Pages leaves it “failing to resolve” with “a 522 error,” the doc warns. A bare domain such as example.com has to be added “as a Cloudflare zone” with Cloudflare's nameservers.

An account can have 100 Pages projects, and “This limit is not routinely increased.” A new account gets fewer at first: “Cloudflare limits the number of new Pages projects you can create within your first 48 hours of using the service.” For more sites, the limits doc points to Workers for Platforms or Workers static assets.

Pages or Workers for a new site

Cloudflare's Pages overview, last updated August 25, 2026, opens with “Are you sure you want to use Pages?” and says “Start new projects with Workers.”

The static limits are close. Cloudflare's Workers limits doc gives Workers Free 20,000 static asset files per Worker version, 25 MiB each, and 100,000 files on Workers Paid. An account can have 100 Workers on Free and 500 on Paid. Requests to static assets are “free and unlimited” on Workers too, per its static assets billing doc. One difference for a free account: paths you send to the Worker's script first with run_worker_first “will receive a 429 (Too Many Requests) response” once the free requests run out, instead of falling back to the static files.

If your site is one HTML page: Convika

Convika hosts landing pages, one HTML page each, with a form that keeps entries and stats on who visited. There are no builds, file counts, or Functions requests to track: you upload the page's HTML file, up to 2 MB, or paste its code, and Convika counts page views. Claude, Claude Code, or Codex can also save the page through Convika's MCP server. Free allows up to 30 publishes a day.

Section 7 of Convika's terms allows commercial use on every plan, Free included: a page that sells or advertises a product or service, a startup or waitlist page, or a client's page you build, host, and bill the client for. It bars reselling Convika itself without permission.

Free includes 1 published page, 10,000 page views a month, 50 form entries shown a month with CSV export and an email for each, 90 days of visit stats, and 1 custom subdomain such as www.yourbrand.com, with a small Convika bar. At 10,000 page views in a month, editing and analytics pause, and 7 days later the pages stop until the month ends or you upgrade. Pro monthly costs $12 a month and includes 100,000 page views; it doesn't stop for traffic unless you set a monthly overage limit, and each 10,000 views past the included ones cost $1.30. Pricing lists each plan.

Not a fit for: a site with several routes, a build step, or server code. Convika hosts a single HTML document per page. To see your page on Convika first, the free HTML publishing tool gives you a preview link with no account.

Which one to pick

  • A static site under 20,000 files that might get a traffic spike: Stay on Cloudflare Pages Free. Static requests don't count against anything.
  • A site that pushes more than 500 times a month: Skip builds with [CI Skip], build it yourself and upload the folder with Wrangler, or move to Cloudflare's Pro plan for 5,000 builds.
  • A site whose Functions pass 100,000 requests a day: Exclude static paths with _routes.json first, then move to Cloudflare's Workers Paid plan, from $5 a month for the account.
  • A new project starting today: Cloudflare itself says to start with Workers, whose static files are free and unlimited too.
  • A single landing page that sells or collects signups: Pick Convika Free, with the form and stats included, or Pro monthly if the page will pass 10,000 views a month.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Cloudflare Pages free plan limits?

Cloudflare Pages Free allows 500 builds a month, 1 at a time, each stopped after 20 minutes; 20,000 files a site, 25 MiB each; 100 custom domains a project; and 100 projects an account, per Cloudflare's limits doc updated September 5, 2026. Requests to static files are free and unlimited. Pages Functions share the Workers Free plan's 100,000 requests a day.

What is the maximum file size on Cloudflare Pages?

25 MiB. Cloudflare's limits doc says “The maximum file size for a single Cloudflare Pages site asset is 25 MiB,” with no larger figure for paid plans. For bigger files, Cloudflare suggests R2 with a public bucket, which can use your own subdomain, such as static.example.com.

How many files can a Cloudflare Pages site have?

20,000 on the Free plan. Cloudflare's paid plans allow up to 100,000 files a site once you set PAGES_WRANGLER_MAJOR_VERSION=4 in the project. A drag-and-drop upload in the dashboard takes up to 1,000 files; Wrangler takes up to 20,000.

Does Cloudflare Pages limit builds on the free plan?

Yes. Cloudflare Pages Free allows 500 builds a month and 1 build at a time across the account, and “Builds will timeout after 20 minutes.” Cloudflare's Pro plan raises the cap to 5,000 builds a month and Business to 20,000.

What happens when you use all 500 builds on Cloudflare Pages?

Cloudflare doesn't say. Its limits doc gives the 500-build cap for Free and no outcome for passing it. To run fewer builds on Cloudflare, start a commit message with [CI Skip] and “Pages will omit that deployment,” or turn off automatic deployments and upload the folder you build with Wrangler; Cloudflare doesn't say whether those uploads count toward the 500.

Does Cloudflare Pages have a request limit?

No, not for static files. Cloudflare's docs say “requests to static assets are free and unlimited” on both free and paid plans. Pages Functions are counted: they share the Workers Free plan's 100,000 requests a day, which resets at midnight UTC.

Does Cloudflare Pages have a bandwidth limit?

No, Cloudflare's Pages docs name none, and they call static requests “free and unlimited.” Cloudflare's Developer Platform terms let it “temporarily limit” storage or requests that “would put an undue burden on the Cloudflare network,” without a number.

What happens when Pages Functions pass 100,000 requests a day?

On Workers Free, you choose in the project's settings. “Fail open” keeps serving the static files without running the Functions, and “Fail closed” returns an error page. The count resets at midnight UTC. Cloudflare's Workers Paid plan, from $5 a month for the account, removes the daily limit.

How many custom domains can a Cloudflare Pages project have?

100 on the Free plan. Cloudflare's Pro plan allows 250 a project and Business 500. For a subdomain, add it in the project's Custom domains tab first, then a CNAME record at your DNS provider; a bare domain such as example.com has to use Cloudflare's nameservers.

How many projects can I have on Cloudflare Pages?

100 an account. Cloudflare's limits doc says “Cloudflare Pages has a limit of 100 projects per account. This limit is not routinely increased,” and a new account can create fewer in its first 48 hours. For more sites, Cloudflare points to Workers for Platforms or Workers static assets.
