Vercel Hobby plan limits: bandwidth, deployments, and what happens when you pass them

Quick answer

Vercel's Hobby plan includes 100 GB of data transfer and 100 deployments a day, and past a usage limit “you will have to wait until 30 days have passed before you can use the feature again,” per its docs updated September 14, 2026. Sustained use past a limit can pause the site with a 503 error.

Vercel's Hobby plan includes 100 GB of data transfer and 100 deployments a day, and past a usage limit “you will have to wait until 30 days have passed before you can use the feature again,” per the Hobby plan docs updated September 14, 2026. The same docs call Hobby “free and aimed at developers with personal projects, and small-scale applications.” Vercel's pricing page lists it at $0 a month.

Vercel's docs were read on October 23, 2026: the Hobby plan docs and the fair use guidelines, both last updated September 14, 2026, the limits docs, last updated September 16, 2026, and the help article Why has my account or deployment been paused?, last updated October 2, 2026. Limits change, so check them before you launch.

Whether a business site may run on Hobby at all is a separate rule: Hobby is for “non-commercial personal use only.” The page Can you use Vercel's Hobby plan for a commercial site? goes through it case by case. This page covers the numbers.

Every Hobby limit, and what happens when you pass it

The table lists what a Hobby team gets each month or day, and what Vercel's docs say happens past it. Where the docs name a limit but not what happens at it, the last column says so.

What happens to the site when a Hobby team passes a limit

Vercel's Hobby docs give the general rule: “As the Hobby plan is a free tier there are no billing cycles. In most cases, if you exceed your usage limits on the Hobby plan, you will have to wait until 30 days have passed before you can use the feature again.” Web Analytics is the exception they name, with a shorter pause: collection “can resume after 7 days.”

The help article on paused accounts says what visitors see when Vercel pauses a site: “your production site stops serving and visitors see a 503 DEPLOYMENT_PAUSED error.” It lists usage as one of four causes: “Your account exceeded the limits or quotas for your plan.” And it says “sustained usage past these limits can lead to a paused deployment.” Its fix for that cause is short: “If your usage is close to a limit, upgrading your plan or reducing consumption resolves the pause.”

Vercel says it warns first where it can. The fair use guidelines say “We will notify you if your usage is an outlier,” and “Where possible, we'll reach out before taking action to address unreasonable usage and work with you to correct it.” Neither document says how many days a paused Hobby site stays down, or which feature of a site stops first when data transfer runs out.

The Hobby docs describe a wait, not a bill. The Web Analytics pricing docs say it outright for their events: Hobby users “will not pay for any additional usage,” and “Hobby teams can't purchase additional events.” To get past a limit, you wait or move the team to Pro.

What the fair use guidelines allow on any plan

The fair use guidelines list what fits on Vercel: “Static sites,” “Hybrid apps,” “Frontend apps,” “Single page applications,” “Functions that query DBs or APIs,” and “Blogs, ecommerce, and marketing sites.” That list is about the kind of project, on every plan. It doesn't lift Hobby's non-commercial rule, so an ecommerce site still needs Pro or Enterprise.

They also list what is “Never fair use”: “Proxies and VPNs,” “Media hosting for hot-linking,” “Scrapers,” “Crypto Mining,” “Load Testing without authorization,” and “Penetration testing.”

Deployments and builds on Hobby

The 2 deployment limits work differently.

  • 100 deployments a day. The limits docs: “You are able to deploy 100 times every 86400 seconds (1 day).”
  • 100 builds an hour. “Using Next.js or any similar framework to build your deployment is classed as a build. Each Vercel Function is also classed as a build. Hosting static files such as an index.html file is not classed as a build.”
  • 1 build at a time. The builds docs: “Hobby: 1 concurrent deployment. Builds beyond this run sequentially.”
  • 45 minutes per build, 100 MB per CLI upload, 15,000 source files per CLI deployment. Past any of them, the deployment fails.

A Hobby project also can't connect to a repository owned by a Git organization: “Vercel does not support connecting a project on your Hobby team to Git repositories owned by Git organizations.”

If your site is one HTML page: Convika

Convika hosts landing pages, one HTML page each, with a form that keeps entries and stats on who visited. It counts page views, not gigabytes or builds, so a heavier file doesn't use the allowance faster. You upload the page's HTML file, up to 2 MB, or paste its code; Claude, Claude Code, or Codex can also save it through Convika's MCP server. Publishing has no build step, and Free allows up to 30 publishes a day.

Section 7 of Convika's terms allows commercial use on every plan, Free included: a page that sells or advertises a product or service, a startup or waitlist page, or a client's page you build, host, and bill the client for. It bars reselling Convika itself without permission.

Free includes 1 published page, 10,000 page views a month, 50 form entries a month with CSV export and an email for each, 90 days of visit stats, and 1 custom subdomain such as www.yourbrand.com, with a small Convika badge. At 10,000 page views in a month, editing and analytics pause, and 7 days later the pages stop until the month ends or you upgrade. Pro monthly costs $12 a month, includes 100,000 page views, and never stops for traffic: each 10,000 views past that cost $0.10. Pricing lists each plan.

Not a fit for: a Next.js app, server code, or a site with several routes. Convika hosts a single HTML document per page, and the page's scripts can only fetch data from its own address. To see your page on Convika first, the free HTML publishing tool gives you a preview link with no account.

Which one to pick

  • A personal Next.js app that stays under the allowances: Stay on Vercel Hobby. Watch the Usage page in the dashboard as traffic grows.
  • A team or business project on Vercel: Move the team to Vercel Pro, $20 a month with $20 of included usage credit.
  • A personal static site that might get a traffic spike: Pick Cloudflare Pages, where static asset requests are free and unlimited.
  • A single landing page that sells or collects signups: Pick Convika Free, with the form and stats included, or Pro monthly if the page will pass 10,000 views a month.

Frequently asked questions

Does Vercel Hobby have a bandwidth limit?

Yes. Hobby includes the “First 100 GB” of Fast Data Transfer a month, plus “First 10 GB” of Fast Origin Transfer and “First 1,000,000” CDN requests. Vercel's Hobby docs say that in most cases, past a usage limit, “you will have to wait until 30 days have passed before you can use the feature again.”

Will my site go down if I pass the Vercel Hobby limits?

Yes, it can. Vercel's help article on paused accounts says “sustained usage past these limits can lead to a paused deployment,” and a paused production site “stops serving and visitors see a 503 DEPLOYMENT_PAUSED error.” The fair use guidelines say Vercel will notify you if your usage is an outlier and, where possible, reach out before acting.

Does Vercel charge you for going over the Hobby limits?

No. Vercel's Hobby docs describe a wait, not a bill: in most cases, 30 days before you can use the feature again. The Web Analytics pricing docs say Hobby users “will not pay for any additional usage.” To keep going past a limit, you move the team to Pro.

Can I deploy more than 100 times a day on Vercel Hobby?

No. The limits docs say “You are able to deploy 100 times every 86400 seconds (1 day). Should you hit the rate limit, you will need to wait another day before you can deploy again.” Separately, Hobby allows 60 deployments every 5 minutes and 100 builds an hour. Vercel Pro allows 6,000 deployments a day.

Does a static HTML site count as a build on Vercel?

No. The limits docs say “Hosting static files such as an index.html file is not classed as a build.” A Next.js build or a Vercel Function is. Each upload of a static site is still a deployment, so the limit of 100 deployments a day applies.

Does Vercel Hobby's fair use policy allow commercial use?

No. The fair use guidelines say “Hobby teams are restricted to non-commercial personal use only. All commercial usage of the platform requires either a Pro or Enterprise plan.” That rule sits beside the usage limits, not inside them. The page Can you use Vercel's Hobby plan for a commercial site? lists what counts as commercial.

Can I open a second Hobby account to get more bandwidth?

No, not to get around a limit. Vercel's guidelines don't name second accounts, but they say “Circumventing or otherwise misusing Vercel's limits or usage guidelines is a violation of our fair use guidelines.” To raise a limit, move the team to Pro.

Can I have more than 200 projects on Vercel Hobby?

No. The Hobby docs and the limits docs list 200 projects for Hobby and unlimited projects for Pro. They don't say what happens when you try to create the 201st.

Is there a free host without a bandwidth limit?

Yes, for static files. Cloudflare's Pages docs say “On both free and paid plans, requests to static assets are free and unlimited.” Convika counts page views instead of bandwidth: 10,000 a month on Free, whatever the file weighs.
