Is Google Sites free? A landing page on your own domain
Quick answer
Yes. Google Sites is free for business use and connects up to 5 custom domains. Convika's Free plan connects a subdomain of your domain, such as www, and hosts the HTML file ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini wrote as it is, with a form that keeps signups and 90 days of visitor stats built in.
Free plan: no credit card, 1 published page, 1 custom subdomain.

Google Sites is free to use with a Google Account, business use included. You build in Google's editor, publish, and Google hosts the site with a personal Google Account and no plan to choose. Google's Workspace FAQ sets its paid plans apart from its free apps: “With Google Workspace, you'll receive a number of additional business-grade services not included with Google's free consumer apps.”
For a business landing page on your own domain, Sites covers the domain and the hosting. It takes no HTML file. The form and the visitor stats go to other Google products. Its form is a Google Form whose responses stay in Google Forms, and visitor stats need a Google Analytics property. The facts come from Google's Sites help and terms, and each row of the table links to the page it came from.

Using your own domain on Google Sites for free
Yes, you can. Google's Sites help says “You can use a custom domain for a site published on Google Sites.” You can connect up to 5 custom domains to one site, with no paid plan.
The setup is DNS work at your registrar: if Google asks you to verify the domain, a TXT record from Search Console; then a CNAME record. Google's help adds “Important: Only the owner of a site can connect it to a domain.” The address needs a subdomain such as www. One of the errors Google lists for custom domains reads “Your URL must include a subdomain, like "www".”
Buying a new domain is where Google brings in a paid plan: “You can purchase a new domain for Google Sites through a Google Workspace plan.” A domain you already own from another registrar connects without one.
Can a business use Google Sites?
Yes. Google's terms of service have a section on using its services for an organization or business, and it opens: “Many organizations, such as businesses, non-profits, and schools, take advantage of our services.” When you publish, the sharing setting decides who can open the site: Restricted or Public. Pick Public for a landing page.
Forms on Google Sites are Google Forms
Google's Sites help adds a form one way: through Insert, in the same list as other Google files, under “Add Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms & Charts”. The form you insert is a Google Form, and Google's Forms help says “You can view and restrict replies to a form with Google Forms.” You read the responses on the form's Responses tab, or in a spreadsheet you link to it.
That suits a team that already works in Google Forms. The signups live in Google Forms and the visitor stats in Google Analytics, each apart from the page.
Visitor stats come from Google Analytics
Google's Sites help describes one way to see your visitors: “You can collect basic data from your website with Analytics.” You create a Google Analytics property, open the site's Settings, go to Analytics, and, in Google's words, “Enter a valid Analytics Property ID.” Google's help adds “It can take up to 24 hours for data to show up in Analytics.”
An HTML page your AI wrote goes into Google Sites as embed code
Sites takes images from your computer and other files through Google Drive. It takes no HTML page of yours. Its help says “You can upload a .jpg, .png, or .gif image file from your computer.” For code, the closest step is Insert, Embed, then “Click Embed code.”
The code goes in with JavaScript inside <script> tags and CSS inside <style> tags, and Google adds “You can also add an embed as an entire page.” A page ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini wrote can go into a Sites page as an embed, inside the Sites page around it. The page at your address is still the Sites page.
What 2 live sites built with Google Sites show
Convika's check on October 12, 2026, of 2 sites built with Google Sites, loaded without an account, found the same things in both:
- Address: Each lives under
sites.google.com/view/yoursite, for example sites.google.com/view/myrsvp/home. - Google menu: Each has a button, named “Site actions” in the page's code, whose menu holds 2 links, Google Sites and Report abuse.
- Embedded content: Each page's code sets embeds to load in a frame from a googleusercontent.com address, inside a frame from gstatic.com.
- Visitor stats: One site loads a Google Analytics tag and the other loads none, which fits stats being something each owner adds.
A year on your own domain, Google Sites or Convika
You run a waitlist page at www.yourbrand.com for the next 12 months.
- Google Sites: $0 for the year, plus the domain. You build the page in Google's editor, add a Google Form for signups, and set up a Google Analytics property for visitor stats.
- Convika Free: $0, plus the domain. The page is the HTML file you upload or the one Convika's AI writes. The form shows 50 entries a month and keeps the ones past that for Pro. Visitor stats are built in.
A free landing page from your AI on your domain: Convika
If your landing page already exists as an HTML file from ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, Convika's Free plan puts that file online as the page itself, at your own subdomain. Convika hosts landing pages, 1 HTML page each, with the form and the visitor stats built in. The Free plan includes:
- Your own subdomain, such as
www.yourbrand.comorwaitlist.yourbrand.com, with the SSL certificate issued for you. The Free plan connects 1. - Commercial use on every plan, Free included, under section 7 of the terms. That covers a client's page you build, host, and bill for.
- A form that keeps the signups. Click Add a form to my page, and Convika adds a form that stores each entry, emails it to you, and exports to CSV. Free shows 50 entries a month. Signups past that aren't turned away: they're kept, and show once you're on Pro.
- 90 days of visitor stats: visits, referrers, UTM campaigns, devices, countries, and button clicks.
- AI clients that publish for you. Claude, Claude Code, and Codex connect to Convika's MCP server and sign in to your account with OAuth, so you never paste a deploy token or API key into the chat. They can read the page's visits and form entries back to you, too.
3 ways to get your page onto Convika
- Rebuild it from its link. Paste the address of the page you have now into the free rebuild tool and click Rebuild my page. You don't need an account. Convika reads the page, keeps its colors and fonts, writes a new version from its text, and lists what it changed and why. Click Keep this page to sign up free and move it into your account.
- Describe it in the dashboard. Sign up free, click Create with AI, and describe the page, or paste a link to a page it should start from. A new page costs 1 AI credit on the default model, and Free accounts start with 10.
- Upload the HTML your AI made. If ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini wrote the page as one HTML file, click Upload an HTML file in the dashboard and add the
.htmlor.htmfile, up to 2 MB, or paste its code. Uploading uses no AI credits. The free HTML publishing tool shows you a preview before you sign up.
The Free plan includes 1 published page, with a small Convika bar at the bottom of each page. Pro costs $12 a month, removes the bar, and shows every form entry.
Where Google Sites fits better: Google Sites fits a team or project site with several pages, built in Google's editor next to your Docs, Sheets, and Calendar.
Google Sites and Convika side by side
| Plan | Price | Address | Your own domain | Form | Badge | Visitor stats |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Sites with a Google Account | $0 | sites.google.com/view/yoursite | Yes, up to 5 per site | Insert a Google Form; its responses stay in Google Forms | A button (“Site actions” in the page's code) whose menu links to Google Sites and Report abuse | None built in; add a Google Analytics property ID in Settings |
| Convika Free | $0 | yourpage.convika.page | 1 subdomain, such as www | Yes, 50 entries a month, with CSV export and an email for each; entries past that are kept for Pro | A small Convika bar at the bottom of the page | 90 days: referrers, UTM campaigns, devices, countries, and button clicks |
| Convika Pro | $12 a month, or $108 a year | The same, or your own subdomain | Unlimited subdomains | Yes, no monthly cap | None | Up to all time |
Which one to pick
- A site for your team, class, or project, with Docs, Sheets, or a Calendar inside: Google Sites. It is free, it connects your domain, and it puts your Google files on the page.
- A landing page ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini already wrote as an HTML file: Convika. Upload the file as it is. On Google Sites, it would go into an embed inside a Sites page.
- A waitlist or signup page where you want the signups and the visits in one dashboard: Convika's Free plan. The form keeps the signups, showing 50 a month and keeping the rest for Pro, and the dashboard shows which links brought the visitors who signed up.
Frequently asked questions
Is Google Sites free?
Yes, Google Sites is free. You build, publish, and host a site with a personal Google Account at no cost, and Google's Sites help names no price for it. Connecting a domain you already own is free too, up to 5 per site. In Google's custom-domain help, a paid Workspace plan comes in when you buy a new domain through Google.
Is Google Sites free with a custom domain?
Yes, Google Sites is free with a custom domain. Google's help says “You can use a custom domain for a site published on Google Sites.” In the site's Settings, under Custom domains, you enter the domain. If Sites asks you to verify it, you add a TXT record from Google Search Console at your registrar, then the CNAME record Sites asks for. The address needs a subdomain such as www.
How much does a custom domain cost on Google Sites?
Connecting a domain you own costs nothing on Google Sites, and you pay only your registrar. Buying a new domain from inside Sites goes through a Google Workspace plan. Google sets that plan to Business Standard by default.
Can I use my domain without www on Google Sites?
No, you cannot use your domain without www on Google Sites. Among the custom-domain errors in Google's help is “Your URL must include a subdomain, like "www".” Use www.yourbrand.com, and have your registrar forward the bare yourbrand.com to it.
Can Google Sites be used for business?
Yes, you can use Google Sites for business. Google's terms of service cover using its services on behalf of a business, and Sites comes with every Google Workspace plan too. Set the published site to Public so anyone with the link can open it.
Can you upload an HTML file to Google Sites?
No, you cannot upload an HTML file to Google Sites. Sites takes image files from your computer and other files through Google Drive, rather than HTML pages. You can paste code into an Embed code box, with JavaScript inside <script> tags and CSS inside <style> tags, and it shows inside a Sites page. To put the file online as the page itself, upload it to Convika: click Upload an HTML file in the dashboard, check the private preview, and publish.
Does Google Sites have a contact form?
Google Sites handles contact forms through Google Forms. You insert a Google Form from Insert, and the responses stay in Google Forms, on the form's Responses tab, or in a spreadsheet you link to it.
Can Google Sites track visitors?
Yes, Google Sites tracks visitors through Google Analytics. You create an Analytics property, enter its ID in the site's Settings under Analytics, and read the data in Google Analytics, where Google says it can take up to 24 hours to appear. Sites help describes no visitor count inside Sites itself.
