How to host a website Gemini Canvas made, on your own domain

Quick answer

To host a website built in Gemini Canvas, copy the code from Canvas, upload it to a host, and publish it at a URL that opens outside Gemini. Gemini's Share button gives you a g.co/gemini/share link that opens only on gemini.google.com. Convika's Free plan puts the site at your own address, such as www.yourbrand.com. The plan includes 1 published page, 50 form entries a month, visitor stats, and needs no credit card.

Publish your Canvas page free

Free plan: no credit card, 1 published page, 50 form entries a month.

On this page

You built a page in Gemini Canvas, and the preview looks right on your screen. When you click Share, you get a g.co/gemini/share/… link that opens inside a Gemini window, not at a web address you own. This guide covers what Gemini's sharing does, where it stops, and how to put that same page on your own domain with a form that keeps entries and a count of who visited. If you teach and need a link every student can open, read How to share a Gemini Canvas with students.

What Gemini's Share button gives you

In Canvas, click Share & export at the top right of the panel, click Share, and copy the g.co/gemini/share link. Here is what Google's Canvas help says about that link:

  • Shared links only open in gemini.google.com. The Gemini mobile app cannot open them.
  • Anyone who opens the link can make a copy and keep editing it in their own Canvas. If you share a business page, that includes your competitors.
  • A shared app can save data, and anyone with the public link can view and edit it. That includes entries from other visitors. According to Google's Canvas safety help, data that an app shares between users sits in a public database. Review the app info before you share.

Google's help says nothing about custom domains or visitor analytics. That works if you want to show a draft to someone. It falls short when you put the link on a flyer, run it in an ad, or paste it into a launch post.

Every option in the table hosts your Canvas code as one HTML file. The difference shows up after your page is live. Netlify Drop accepts a dragged file without an account, but a drop you make without signing in stays locked behind a temporary password until you claim it (Netlify's Drop quickstart, updated July 28, 2026).

Hosting your Canvas page with Convika in 6 steps

Copy the code from Canvas

If your page has a form, first ask Gemini, word for word: “Replace the form with <div data-convika-form></div>.” That placeholder marks where Convika puts a working form later. If Canvas made a React app and did not produce plain HTML, also ask: “Convert this to a single HTML file with the CSS and JavaScript inline, no build step.” Click Code at the top right of the Canvas panel. Copy the whole file.

Create a free Convika account

Sign up at app.convika.com. The Free plan asks for no credit card and includes 1 published page.

Upload the code

Open your dashboard and click Upload an HTML file. Go to the Paste code tab and paste your code. If you saved your code as a file, open the Upload a file tab instead; it accepts .html and .htm files up to 2 MB. Click Create my preview. Convika makes a new page. Uploading uses no AI credits.

Check the private preview

When you see “Your preview is ready,” click Open preview. Your preview link is private and works for 3 minutes; click Open preview again whenever you need a new one. Nothing is public yet. Check the page on your phone and on your computer. If you find a blank section or a missing image, read what won't work outside Gemini below.

Add a form that keeps entries

On your page's dashboard screen, click Add a form to my page. Pick your fields: email only; name and email; or name, email, and message. Set the button text. Convika puts a working form in the placeholder spot, or above the page's footer if you used no placeholder, as a new preview version. If you used no placeholder, Gemini's old form remains on the page. Type “Remove the form Gemini made and keep the Convika form” into Edit with AI. That prompt uses 1 AI credit on the default model and stops visitors from filling in a form that goes nowhere. Test entries submitted from the preview are checked. Convika does not save them.

Publish and connect your domain

Click Publish page. Under Who can open this page?, choose Public and click Next. The first time you publish, Convika shows Publish free, and under it Publish without the Convika bar, which opens an order for Pro monthly (1 day free with a card, then $12 a month). To publish on Free, click Publish free. The page goes live at an address like yourpage.convika.page. To use your own domain, go to your page's dashboard screen, click Manage domains, and click Add domain. Enter a hostname such as www.yourbrand.com. Go to the company where you bought your domain and add the CNAME and TXT records Convika displays. Convika issues an SSL certificate for you. Automatic setup applies to subdomains like www. It does not set up a bare yourbrand.com.

Open your page's analytics a day later. Review your visits, referrers, UTM tags, devices, countries, button clicks, and form submissions. Read How to see who visits your page to see each number explained.

What won't work outside Gemini

Page scripts run on every plan, Free included. Canvas pages often load Tailwind, Google Fonts, and an icon library from a CDN, and those work. Embedded videos and maps keep working, along with images using full https:// links. Here is what depends on your plan or stops working.

  • Gemini-powered features and saved data. A chatbot, a text or image generator, or entries saved in the app rely on Canvas. They disappear once your page leaves Gemini. A script on a Convika page cannot fetch data from other websites, except, on Pro, the analytics tools below and the hosts you list for your own ad network. Tell Gemini: “Remove the AI features and saved data, and keep the page static.”
  • Analytics and heatmap tools. Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics, Clarity, Hotjar, Plausible, PostHog, and Mixpanel send data only on Pro and above. Free blocks them. Convika's own visit counts work on Free.
  • Images that aren't online. Any image path pointing to a file on your computer breaks. The upload screen lists these files. Tell Gemini: “Use a full https:// link for every image, and use these links: …”
  • Libraries that run code written in HTML attributes Alpine.js (x-data, @click) is one example. Tell Gemini: “Rewrite the Alpine.js parts in plain JavaScript.”

Frequently asked questions

How do I host a website that Gemini Canvas generated?

Copy the whole file by clicking Code in the top right of the Canvas panel, then upload it to a host with a URL outside Gemini. On Convika, click Upload an HTML file, click Paste code, paste your file, check your private preview, and click Publish page. Then choose Public, click Next, then, the first time, click Publish free. Your page goes live at an address like yourpage.convika.page. The Free plan includes 1 subdomain such as www.yourbrand.com, a form that keeps entries, and visitor stats. To compare Netlify Drop, GitHub Pages, and Cloudflare Pages, read Free ways to host a Gemini Canvas website.

Click Share & export in the top right, select Share, and click Copy link next to the g.co/gemini/share link. Per Google's Canvas help, this public link opens only in gemini.google.com, not the Gemini mobile app, and anyone who opens it can copy and keep editing. For a link that opens as a web page in any browser, copy your code, head to the upload box at the top of this page, click Paste code, paste the code, and click Get my preview link. That link requires no account, with scripts and forms off. Sign up free and publish to go live at an address like yourpage.convika.page with scripts running.

Google's help describes 2 issues: where the recipient opened the link, and whether the link still exists. According to Google's Canvas help, shared Canvas content opens only on gemini.google.com, and the Gemini mobile app cannot open it. Ask them to use a browser. Your link is gone if you or auto-delete removed any part of its chat, according to Google's chat-sharing help. If you see no Share button at all, your organization may have turned sharing off. Work and school accounts keep public-link sharing off until an administrator turns it on, per Google's Workspace admin help. For a link that opens in any browser on phones too, copy the code and publish on Convika with the 6 steps above.

Can I share or download a Gemini infographic?

You can share a Gemini infographic by link, but Google's help lists no step to download one. Google's Canvas help provides 1 set of sharing steps for “an app or content from Canvas”, and none for an infographic alone. Click Share & export, select Share, and copy the g.co/gemini/share link to open it in gemini.google.com. For saving, the help lists Export to Docs for text, Export to Slides or a PDF for slides, Copy contents, and PDF export for docs with LaTeX. As of October 14, 2026, Google gives no step for saving an infographic as an image, PDF, or PowerPoint file. The help describes Code for apps, but stays silent on whether infographics have it. If your panel shows Code, copy it and publish on Convika with the 6 steps above. Your infographic gets its own address that anyone opens in a browser without an account.

Can I put a Gemini Canvas page on a custom domain?

You cannot connect a custom domain inside Gemini, because shared Canvas content opens only on gemini.google.com. To use your own domain, copy the code and host it where custom domains work. Convika Free provides 1 subdomain, such as www.yourbrand.com, via a CNAME and a TXT record.

Can a Gemini Canvas page collect email signups?

A Canvas app saves what visitors type inside Gemini, but anyone with the public link can view and edit that app data. Google's help notes that this includes entries from other visitors. On Convika, select Add a form to my page so entries appear only in your dashboard, with CSV export. The Free plan shows 50 entries a month across forms and keeps the rest for Pro. If you host the page elsewhere, explore other ways to make the form save entries.

Will the page update when I change it in Gemini?

No, the page will not update because your Convika page is a copy. To change the live page, type your revision into Edit with AI on the page's dashboard screen. Each update uses 1 AI credit on the default model, and Free accounts start with 10. The tool saves a new version with a preview, and you publish when it looks right. Uploading the code again creates a separate page with its own address.

What does it cost?

Convika offers a Free plan with no card required. Free gives you 1 published page, 10,000 pageviews a month, 50 form entries a month shown (entries past that are kept and show on Pro), 1 custom domain, and a small Convika bar at the bottom of each page. Pro removes the bar and shows every form entry. Pro costs $12 a month.
