Is Bolt.new free? Tokens, limits, and publishing in 2026
Quick answer
Yes. Bolt's pricing page, read on November 3, 2026, lists Free at “$0/month” with “1M tokens/month to try Bolt,” and its help center adds a daily cap of 300K tokens. Yes. Bolt's pricing page, read on November 3, 2026, lists the Free plan at “$0/month,” “Free forever, no card required,” with “1M tokens/month to try Bolt,” and Bolt's help center on tokens adds that “Free plan tokens also have a daily cap of 300K.” Free publishes your project to a bolt.host address with a Made in Bolt badge, and “Custom domains aren't available on the Free plan,” per Bolt's billing help. The cheapest plan with your own domain is Bolt Pro, $25 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly ($216 a year).
Bolt's pricing page, help center, and Terms of Service were read on November 3, 2026. The terms are dated: published September 14, 2026, last updated September 22, 2026. The pricing page and the help center articles carry no date. Bolt is made by StackBlitz, the company behind it, so its terms and billing portal use the StackBlitz name. Prices are in US dollars. Plans change, so check Bolt's pages before you pay.
Bolt's Free plan and Pro compared
Here is what Bolt Free and Bolt Pro include, from Bolt's pricing page and its help center on billing, tokens, and hosting plans.
| What you get | Bolt Free | Bolt Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0, “Free forever, no card required” | $25 a month billed monthly, or $18 a month billed yearly ($216 a year, shown against $300), for 10M tokens a month |
| AI tokens | 1M a month, with a daily limit of 300K | “Starts at 10M” a month, with no daily limit |
| Unused tokens | Don't roll over | Roll over and stay valid for 2 months |
| Publishing | A free bolt.host address; “all published sites are public” | bolt.host, a private site for people you invite, or your own domain |
| Your own domain | No | Yes: buy one through Bolt or connect one you own |
| Made in Bolt badge | Shown on the published site | Removed |
| Hosting allowance | 10 GB of bandwidth and 333,333 requests a month, with “a hard limit on traffic” | 30 GB and 1 million requests a month, then pay-as-you-go up to a spending cap you set |
| Built-in site analytics | No | Yes, up to the last 30 days |
| Supabase database | No; Bolt's own database only | Yes |
The pricing page lists Teams at $30 per member a month, or $27 billed yearly, with “Centralized billing” and team access controls. Bolt's yearly toggle says “Save up to 28%.” Bolt subscriptions “are non-refundable,” per its billing help.
What a Bolt token is, and how fast a project uses them
Bolt's pricing FAQ defines it: “Tokens are how Bolt measures the work it does on your project. Bolt uses tokens when it reads your prompts and project files, makes a plan, or writes code.” Its tokens help explains why a project costs more as it grows: “Most of your token usage comes from Bolt reading, understanding, and syncing your project files, so larger projects use more tokens per message.”
Bolt doesn't say how many tokens a prompt, a page, or a whole project takes. Its help names the actions that use none:
- Publishing with the button. “Always use the Publish or Update button in the
Publishmenu to publish your site, since these options don't use tokens. Prompting Bolt to publish your project decreases your token balance” (publish help). - Going back to an earlier version. Version history restores your project “without consuming tokens” (token efficiency).
- Editing code yourself. Direct edits in Code view don't use tokens (tokens help).
Planning in Plan mode “uses fewer tokens because it doesn't make any changes to your project,” and each click on Attempt fix uses tokens, per the token efficiency article.
When your Bolt tokens run out
Bolt Free runs on 2 limits at once: 300K tokens a day and 1M a month. The tokens help says “Your daily tokens reset every day, but they don't carry over — if you don't use all 300K today, tomorrow you still start at 300K, not 600K.” The monthly allowance resets “on the 1st of each calendar month.”
When you hit the daily limit, Bolt gives 3 options: “you can still make direct edits to your project's existing code for free in Code view, which doesn't use tokens. Otherwise, wait for your next daily reset, or upgrade to a paid plan to remove the daily cap entirely.”
On Pro, tokens reset on your renewal date, and unused tokens roll over for 2 months while you stay subscribed. Buying extra tokens outright, called a reload, is only for “the highest individual monthly Pro plan or … any annual Pro plan,” and reloaded tokens “do not expire.” If you cancel Pro after using more than 1 million tokens in a month, “you'll need to wait until next month to get free tokens.”
Bolt's token pages don't say a published site goes down when tokens run out. The rule that takes a Free site offline is the hosting allowance, below.
Publishing and custom domains on Bolt
Bolt publishes to its own hosting at no cost. Its billing help says “You can publish projects to a free bolt.host URL, with up to 10 GB of bandwidth and 333,333 web requests per month.” Click Publish at the top right, then Publish in the Publish your project menu, and Bolt deploys the site in about a minute. Bolt picks a random bolt.host name the first time; you can rename it.
- Changes wait for Update. “After you publish, changes you make to your Bolt project aren't automatically applied to your published site.” Click Update in the
Publishmenu to put them live. - The traffic cap is hard on Free. “There's no way to increase these limits, so if you go over this usage, your site goes offline for the rest of the month.” The limits cover your whole Bolt account, so several sites share them. Bolt's hosting plans page estimates Free “typically supports around 10,000–15,000 monthly visits,” depending on page size.
- Your own domain takes a paid plan. Bolt's domains help says “Custom domains are only available on paid plans, so you'll need to upgrade from Free to any paid tier to use one.” You can buy a domain through Bolt or connect one you already own.
- The badge goes with a paid plan. “Free plan projects show a Made in Bolt badge on the published site. Upgrading to a paid plan removes the badge.”
If you leave Pro for Free, Bolt's hosting help says sites already on your domain “stay online. But you won't be able to republish or reconnect a custom domain while on the free plan.” The badge returns the next time you republish.
What you can do on Bolt Free
The table applies Bolt's help center and terms to common cases. A row reads Yes where Bolt's pages allow it on Free, No where they say it takes a paid plan, and “Yes, no plan named” where Bolt describes the feature without limiting it to a plan.
| What you want to do | What Bolt's pages say | On Bolt Free? |
|---|---|---|
| Publish a site anyone can open | “You can publish projects to a free bolt.host URL” (billing) | Yes |
| Publish it only for people you invite | “Private sites are available on paid plans only” (publish) | No |
| Put it on your own domain | “Custom domains aren't available on the Free plan” (billing) | No |
| Remove the Made in Bolt badge | “Upgrading to a paid plan removes the badge” (billing) | No |
| Keep the site up past 10 GB or 333,333 requests in a month | “your site goes offline for the rest of the month” (billing) | No |
| See visits in Bolt's analytics | “Projects published to Bolt Hosting on a paid plan include built-in analytics” (analytics) | No |
| Use a Supabase database | “Using a Supabase database requires a Pro or Teams plan” (billing) | No |
| Use the site for a business | Your code is “your own code, which you can use for any legal purpose including commercial purposes” (corporate and commercial) | Yes |
| Download the project as a .zip | “You can download your project as a zip file to work on it outside of Bolt” (projects) | Yes, no plan named |
| Back the code up to GitHub | “Connecting GitHub to Bolt lets you automatically back up your Bolt project” (GitHub) | Yes, no plan named |
| Publish to Netlify instead | “you can choose to publish your project to Netlify instead” (Netlify) | Yes, no plan named |
Taking your code out of Bolt
Bolt gives you 3 ways to take a project elsewhere, and none of them is limited to a plan in Bolt's docs.
- Download a .zip. In your project, click the project title, then Download. Bolt's projects help says “To run the project on your computer, you'll need Node.js installed first,” then
npm install && npm run dev. - Connect GitHub. Bolt commits each working change and checks GitHub every 30 seconds for changes made outside it. Its GitHub help adds that “since your code lives in GitHub, you can publish your site using Bolt hosting, the Netlify integration, or another service you choose.”
- Publish to Netlify. Bolt's Netlify help says “Netlify can host sites that run entirely in a web browser, like landing pages, portfolios, and small apps. Netlify can't host a database or a traditional backend.”
A Bolt project is a set of files with a build step, not one HTML file. When you publish, Bolt first “builds your project, which means that it turns your code into the finished files that make up your website,” often in a folder “called dist or build,” per its publishing issues page. Another host has to run that build, or take the finished folder.
Can you use Bolt's free plan for a business?
Yes. Bolt's corporate and commercial help says “All code that you create with Bolt and StackBlitz is your own code, which you can use for any legal purpose including commercial purposes.” Section 3.3 of the Terms of Service, last updated September 22, 2026, says StackBlitz “assigns to you all of its right, title, and interest, if any, in and to the AI Output generated for you through the Services.” Neither names a plan.
The assignment comes with 2 conditions. It is “subject to (a) any third-party rights in the underlying artificial-intelligence models, training data, or outputs, and (b) the rights of other users.” And section 3.5 lets StackBlitz train AI models on your Bolt prompts, its output, and the project files its AI reads, from October 7, 2026, and license de-identified datasets of them to third parties, “including for compensation.” You can opt out “free of charge and regardless of your plan” in account settings. Section 3.5 leaves out accounts in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, and Teams and Enterprise workspaces.
Bolt for a landing page or for a full app
Bolt builds web apps with a database, sign-ins, file storage, server functions, and Stripe payments, per its Bolt Cloud overview, and mobile apps through Expo.
A landing page on Bolt Free stays at a bolt.host address with the badge, without analytics, and goes offline for the rest of the month if your Bolt account passes 10 GB or 333,333 requests. Your own domain, no badge, and analytics start at Bolt Pro, $25 a month.
Bolt and 5 other builders' free plans
Each row is from the builder's own pricing page or docs, read on November 3, 2026. The linked pages cover each one in detail.
| Builder and free plan | AI allowance on the free plan | Where the free plan publishes | Host's badge on the free plan | Cheapest plan for your own domain |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bolt Free | 1M tokens a month, up to 300K a day (pricing) | A bolt.host address, public only | “Made in Bolt” | Bolt Pro, $25 a month, or $18 billed yearly |
| Base44 Free | 25 message credits a month, up to 5 a day (plans) | A base44.app address, public only | “Edit with Base44” | Base44 Starter, $20 a month, or $16 billed yearly (pricing) |
| Lovable Free | 5 build credits a day, up to 30 a month (plans) | A lovable.app address | “Edit with Lovable” | Lovable Pro, $25 a month, or $250 a year |
| v0 Free | $5 in credits once for new users, and 7 messages a day (pricing docs) | Vercel, under the Vercel plan of your team; Hobby is non-commercial only | v0's docs don't say | Free, through the Vercel project (custom domains) |
| Replit Starter | Daily Agent credits up to a monthly cap; Replit doesn't state the amount (Starter plan) | 1 published app, whose link “will automatically go down after 30 days” | “Made with Replit” | Replit's Starter docs don't say; removing the badge takes Core, $20 a month, or $18 billed yearly (pricing) |
| Convika Free | 10 AI credits to start; uploads and the rebuild tool use none | yourpage.convika.page | A small Convika bar at the bottom | Free: 1 subdomain, such as www |
Every builder here except Convika caps its free AI use by the day. Base44 splits its free credits into building and running the app. Of these, only v0's and Convika's pages say a free plan connects your own domain; Replit's docs don't say. v0's Vercel Hobby hosting is for “non-commercial personal use only.”
Convika for a landing page you made in Bolt
Convika hosts landing pages, one HTML page each, with a form that keeps entries and stats on who visited. A Bolt project doesn't move to Convika as it is: Convika takes one .html or .htm file, up to 2 MB, or pasted code, and a Bolt build is a folder of files. Upload a built index.html alone, and Convika lists the files it loads from beside it as files that won't load online.
For a single landing or waitlist page, these work:
- Rebuild it from the bolt.host link. The page must be public. Paste the link into the free rebuild tool and click Rebuild my page. No signup, email, or card is needed. You get a private preview in your page's colors and fonts, with a list of what changed and why. Click Keep this page to move it into a Free account, then Add a form to my page, then Publish page. Choose Public, click Next, and, the first time, click Publish free. In a test on November 3, 2026, on a public bolt.host bakery page, the preview left out the Made in Bolt badge, kept the page's font and its brown and yellow colors, and laid the page out anew around a rewritten headline.
- Describe it to Convika's AI. Sign up free, click Create with AI, and describe the page, or paste a link to a page it should start from. Free accounts start with 10 AI credits.
- Upload one HTML file. If ChatGPT or Claude wrote the page as a single HTML file, click Upload an HTML file and add it, or paste its code. Uploading uses no AI credits. The free HTML publishing tool shows a preview before you sign up.
Section 7 of Convika's terms allows commercial use on every plan, Free included, client pages too. Free includes 1 published page, 1 custom subdomain such as www.yourbrand.com, 50 form entries shown a month with an email for each, 10,000 page views a month, and 90 days of visitor stats, with a small Convika bar at the bottom. Pro removes the bar and shows every form entry. Pro costs $12 a month.
Where Bolt fits better: an app with sign-ins, a database, payments, or several screens, or a mobile app. Convika hosts each page as one HTML file at its own path, the rebuild writes a new page from your page's text, colors, and fonts rather than copying it, and custom domains are subdomains such as www.
Which one to pick
- An app with sign-ins, a database, or payments: Build it on Bolt. Free gives you 1M tokens a month to try it; your own domain starts on Bolt Pro.
- A Bolt site that must stay up through a traffic spike: Bolt Pro, whose pay-as-you-go hosting runs to a spending cap you set, or a paid Netlify plan. Netlify's free plan pauses every project on the account when its credits run out, as What happens when Netlify credits run out explains.
- A landing or waitlist page on your own domain with no monthly fee: Convika Free, with the form and visitor stats built in. Rebuild the page from its bolt.host link.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bolt.new free?
Yes. Bolt's pricing page lists a Free plan at $0 a month, “Free forever, no card required,” with 1M tokens a month and a daily limit of 300K. You can build and publish to a bolt.host address with a Made in Bolt badge. Your own domain, private sites, and analytics need a paid plan, starting with Bolt Pro at $25 a month.
How many free tokens does Bolt give per day?
Bolt Free gives 300K tokens a day, within 1M tokens a month. Daily tokens reset every day and don't carry over, and the monthly allowance resets on the 1st. Free tokens never roll over. On Pro there is no daily limit, and unused monthly tokens roll over for 2 months.
What happens when my Bolt tokens run out?
You wait for the reset to build with Bolt's AI again, or upgrade. Bolt's help says you can still edit your project's code in Code view, which uses no tokens, and that a paid plan removes the daily cap. Bolt's token pages don't say a published site goes down when tokens run out; on Free, the site goes offline only past 10 GB or 333,333 requests in a month.
Can I use a custom domain on Bolt's free plan?
No. Bolt's billing help says “Custom domains aren't available on the Free plan.” Any paid plan connects one, starting with Bolt Pro at $25 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly. You can buy the domain through Bolt or connect one you already own.
How much does Bolt Pro cost?
Bolt Pro starts at $25 a month billed monthly, or $18 a month billed yearly, a total of $216 a year, for 10M tokens a month. More tokens cost more: Bolt's billing examples show 26M tokens on its $50 monthly plan and 55M on its $100 plan. Teams starts at $30 per member a month.
Does Bolt have a free trial or a student discount?
No. Bolt's pricing page and help center list no free trial of Bolt Pro and no student price. The Free plan is how you try Bolt. Bolt Lite, a $9-a-month plan from its Forge preview, took its last sign-ups on October 14, 2026, per Bolt's Forge help.
Is Bolt Pro still $25 a month?
Yes. Bolt's pricing page, read on November 3, 2026, lists Bolt Pro at $25 a month billed monthly. Bolt's pages don't say whether it cost less before. Your total can still rise. Since the start of November 2026, Link, a payment service built by Stripe, bills Bolt subscriptions unless you opted out by October 28, 2026, and Bolt's billing help says “If your region requires VAT or sales tax, Link adds it to your bill … so your total may be higher than before.” Bolt's terms add that a price change for a paid subscription “applies only from a later billing period, after advance notice to you.”
Can I use Bolt's free plan for a business?
Yes. Bolt's help says the code you create is yours to use “for any legal purpose including commercial purposes,” and its terms assign you StackBlitz's rights in AI output with no plan condition. A business site on Free still carries the Made in Bolt badge and stays on bolt.host.
Can I host a Bolt project somewhere else?
Yes. Download the project as a .zip, connect GitHub, or publish to Netlify from Bolt's settings. The project has a build step, so the new host must run it or take the built folder. Netlify, Bolt says, can't host a database or a traditional backend.
Is there a free way to put a Bolt landing page on my own domain?
Yes, with Convika's Free plan. Paste your public bolt.host link into Convika's free rebuild tool, with no signup, and get a private preview in your page's colors and fonts. Keep it, add a form, and connect 1 custom subdomain, such as www.yourbrand.com. The rebuild is a new page, not a copy of your Bolt project.
