Is Replit free for hosting a website? What a Replit deployment costs
Quick answer
Only for 30 days at a time: Replit's Starter plan docs, last modified July 29, 2026, include 1 free published app and say “This published link will automatically go down after 30 days.” A site that stays up needs Core, at $20 a month with $20 of monthly credits; a Static deployment then pays only for data transfer.
Free plan: no credit card, 1 published page, 50 form entries a month.

Only for 30 days at a time. Replit's Starter plan docs, last modified July 29, 2026, give the free plan “1 free published app” and say “This published link will automatically go down after 30 days.” Replit's Publishing costs page adds that “The deployment expires after 30 days but can be re-published.”
A site that stays up needs a paid plan. Replit Core costs $20 a month on Replit's pricing page, includes $20 in monthly credits, and lifts the cap to unlimited published apps. Publishing costs come out of those credits first. A Static deployment, for a site with no backend, has free hosting and charges $0.05 per GB of data transfer.
Replit's pricing page and docs were read on October 23, 2026. The docs pages are dated by their own last-modified dates: Starter plan, July 29, 2026; Publishing costs, August 19, 2026; Replit Core, August 30, 2026; Deployment types, September 15, 2026; Pricing and plans help, October 14, 2026; Custom domains, October 21, 2026. The pricing page carries no date. Prices are in US dollars.
What Replit's free Starter plan publishes
- 1 published app. “Starter plan users get 1 free published app. Additional published apps beyond this require Core or Pro.”
- For 30 days. The link goes down after 30 days. You can publish it again, and Replit's publishing guide says the same: “Starter includes 1 published app, which expires after 30 days and can be republished.”
- With a badge. “Your published app will include a "Made with Replit" badge that contains your unique referral link.” Removing it requires Core.
- On a small monthly allowance. Starter's monthly credits cover production databases, object storage, and “Publishing (Autoscale, static),” and “reset each month.” Replit's pricing and plans help calls them “limited monthly cloud credits” and gives no amount.
The plan itself doesn't expire. The same help page says “The Starter plan is free with no time limit.” Only the published link does. Starter isn't among the plans on Replit's pricing page, which lists Core, Pro, and Enterprise; it is described in Replit's docs.
Case by case on the Starter plan
| What you want on Replit Starter | What Replit's docs say | Allowed? |
|---|---|---|
| Publish one website or app | “Get 1 free published app whether you're using Lite build or Design Canvas” | Yes |
| Keep it online past 30 days without doing anything | “This published link will automatically go down after 30 days” | No |
| Publish it again after it goes down | “The deployment expires after 30 days but can be re-published” | Yes |
| A second published site | “Additional published apps beyond this require Core or Pro” | No |
| Remove the “Made with Replit” badge | “Removing the "Made with Replit" badge from your published apps requires Core” | No |
| A plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript site as a Static deployment | Starter's credits cover “Publishing (Autoscale, static),” and Static is for “Landing pages, portfolios, documentation sites” (Deployment types) | Yes |
| An app Replit Agent built, as a Static deployment | “Static Deployments are not compatible with Replit Apps created using Agent” | No |
| A domain you already own | The custom domains doc covers published apps and names no plan | Replit doesn't say |
| A domain bought through Replit | “Currently, you can purchase domains for your personal account published apps” (Purchase a domain); no plan is named | Replit doesn't say |
What a Replit deployment costs
Replit's Publishing costs page, last modified August 19, 2026, prices 4 deployment types. “All publishing costs are deducted from your monthly credits. You only pay usage-based fees after your monthly credits are fully used.”
| Deployment type | What it's for, per Replit | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Static | “Landing pages, portfolios, documentation sites,” with “no backend server” | Hosting free; data transfer $0.05 per GB |
| Autoscale | “Web apps and APIs with variable traffic”; the default, and one of the 2 types Agent-built apps can use | Base fee $2 a month, plus $0.60 per million compute units and $0.40 per million requests |
| Reserved VM | “Bots, background work, always-on APIs” on “One dedicated server that never sleeps” | From $15 a month (shared, 0.5 vCPU and 2 GB RAM); dedicated from $35 a month |
| Scheduled | “Periodic tasks like backups and notifications”; no public URL | Base fee $2 a month, plus $0.60 per million compute units |
Replit's pages differ on the Autoscale base fee. The Publishing costs page says $2 a month, and the same page also says “When no one visits your app, you pay nothing.” Replit's August 2026 pricing update, last modified October 22, 2026, lists it at $1 a month both before and after August 1, 2026, when compute units dropped from $3.20 to $0.60 per million and data transfer from $0.10 to $0.05 per GB.
Two sites, worked from Replit's numbers
- Replit's own example, a small business website on Autoscale: “500 visitors/day, 5 page views each = 75,000 requests/month” comes to about $2.39 a month: the $2 base fee, about $0.36 of compute, and about $0.03 of requests.
- A static landing page: a page that sends 1 MB per visit and gets 10,000 visits a month moves about 10 GB, which is about $0.50 at $0.05 per GB. On Core it costs nothing extra: Replit's billing page gives Core a 100 GiB monthly data transfer allowance, and the allowance covers Static deployments.
Both fit inside Core's $20 of monthly credits and its data transfer allowance, so the Core subscription is the real cost of keeping a site up. Core credits “reset at the start of each billing cycle and don't roll over.”
Plans that keep a site published
| Plan | Price | Published apps | Credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | 1, for 30 days at a time | “limited monthly cloud credits,” amount not stated |
| Core | $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly | Unlimited | $20 a month, no rollover |
| Pro | $100 a month, or $90 a month billed yearly | Unlimited | Tiered; unused credits “roll over for two months” |
Past the credits, Core and Pro are billed for usage. You can set a usage limit; when you reach it, “usage-based services are blocked until the next billing cycle or until you increase the limit” (Managing your spend). Replit also notes that “Continuous payment failures might lead to the suspension of your published apps.”
Custom domains on Replit
Replit's custom domains doc puts the price plainly: a replit.app subdomain is “Free,” and a custom domain is “Pay your domain provider.”
- A domain you own: Replit's guided setup writes the DNS records for most providers. By hand, you add an
Arecord and aTXTrecord. Keep theTXTrecord: Replit renews the certificate through it, and removing it means “your domain will eventually serve an expired certificate.” wwwand other subdomains: “Subdomains — includingwww— are not automatically resolvable when you link your apex domain.” Each one is added as its own entry.- A domain bought through Replit: you pay the registration fee for 1 year (2 years for
.ai) and the renewal price, and “Replit doesn't charge additional fees for domain purchases.” Registration fees are non-refundable, and a move to another registrar waits 60 days after purchase. - Before you publish: a domain can be set up first, but “it doesn't serve your app until the app is published.” On Starter, that means it stops serving when the 30 days end.
Free hosting that doesn't expire, compared
| Host and plan | How long a free site lasts | What's metered | Your own domain on the free plan | Business use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Replit Starter | 30 days, then you publish it again | “limited monthly cloud credits” | Replit doesn't say | Replit's Starter docs don't say |
| Netlify Free | No end date, “$0 forever”; every project pauses when the month's 300 credits run out | 300 credits a month: 15 per production deploy, 20 per GB | Yes, with SSL | Yes, per Netlify's 2024 Free plan announcement |
| GitHub Pages | No end date in GitHub's docs | Soft limits: 100 GB of bandwidth a month, 10 builds an hour | Yes | No, not for running an online business |
| Cloudflare Pages Free | No end date in Cloudflare's docs | 500 builds a month; “Requests to static assets are free and unlimited” | Yes, up to 100 per project | Yes, but no card data may be collected on a free-plan site |
| Convika Free | No end date; the pages stop for the rest of the month 7 days after reaching 10,000 pageviews | 10,000 pageviews a month; publishing has no meter | 1 subdomain, such as www | Yes, section 7 of its terms |
A page that stays published on Convika
Convika hosts landing pages, one HTML page each, and keeps what happens on them. If what you built on Replit is a single page with no backend, such as a landing page, a portfolio, or a design you turned into HTML, Convika's Free plan publishes it with no 30-day expiry. That changes 5 things.
- No expiry date. Free includes 1 published page, and a published page has no 30-day limit to republish against.
- Pageviews are what's counted. Free includes 10,000 pageviews a month. Once your pages reach that in a month, editing and analytics pause, and 7 days later the pages stop until the month ends or you upgrade; Convika emails you at 80% first.
- A form that keeps entries. Click Add a form to my page, and Convika stores each entry, emails it to you, and exports to CSV. Free shows 50 entries a month.
- 90 days of visitor stats. You get visits, referrers, UTM campaigns, devices, countries, and button clicks.
- Your own subdomain and commercial use. Free connects 1 custom subdomain, such as
www.yourbrand.com, and section 7 of the terms allows commercial use on every plan, Free included.
Free shows a small “Convika: share your HTML as a link, free” badge. Pro removes it and the monthly cap on form entries, and costs $12 a month.
Where Replit fits better: an app with a backend, a database, sign-in, or payments that Replit Agent built. Convika hosts one HTML page per site and runs no server code.
Drop the .html file below, up to 2 MB, or paste its code to see your page on Convika before signing up. You get a private preview link that works for 3 minutes, with the page's scripts and forms off until you keep it with a free account.
Frequently asked questions
Is Replit free for hosting a website?
Yes, but only for 30 days at a time. Replit's free Starter plan includes 1 published app, and its docs say “This published link will automatically go down after 30 days.” You can publish it again, and a second site needs Core or Pro.
Does a free Replit deployment expire?
Yes. On the Starter plan, the published app goes down after 30 days, and you can publish it again. On Core and Pro, published apps don't carry that 30-day limit; the Core plan page lists “Unlimited” published apps against Starter's “1 (30-day).”
Can I publish more than one app on Replit's free plan?
No. Replit's Starter docs say “Additional published apps beyond this require Core or Pro.” Core costs $20 a month and allows unlimited published apps.
Does a static website cost money on Replit?
No, not beyond the plan. Replit's Static deployments have free hosting and charge $0.05 per GB of data transfer, and Replit's billing page gives Core a 100 GiB monthly data transfer allowance, so a site that moves 10 GB a month costs nothing extra on Core. Keeping the site up past 30 days needs Core at $20 a month, which includes $20 of credits.
Does Replit Autoscale cost money when nobody visits?
Yes, the base fee, though Replit's pages disagree. The Publishing costs page lists a base fee of $2 a month and, on the same page, says “When no one visits your app, you pay nothing.” Its August 2026 pricing update lists the base fee at $1. Compute and requests are charged only while the app serves traffic, and the app goes idle after 15 minutes without requests.
Can I host an app built by Replit Agent as a static site?
No. Replit's docs say “Static Deployments are not compatible with Replit Apps created using Agent,” because Agent builds full-stack apps that need a server. Those publish as Autoscale or Reserved VM deployments.
Can I use a custom domain on Replit's free plan?
Replit doesn't say. Its custom domains doc covers published apps without naming a plan, and the Starter plan page doesn't list custom domains. On any plan, a custom domain serves your app only while the app is published, so on Starter it stops serving when the 30 days end.
Does Replit charge extra for domains?
No. Replit's docs say “Replit doesn't charge additional fees for domain purchases.” You pay the registration fee for 1 year, or 2 years for .ai, and the renewal price after that; registration fees are non-refundable.
Do I need Replit Core to keep my site online?
Yes, for a site that stays up without republishing every 30 days. Core costs $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly, and includes $20 of monthly credits that pay for publishing first.
Is there free hosting that doesn't expire after 30 days?
Yes. Convika's Free plan publishes 1 page with no expiry date and counts 10,000 pageviews a month, with a form, 90 days of stats, and 1 custom subdomain. GitHub Pages and Cloudflare Pages also host static sites with no end date in their docs, and Netlify's Free plan pauses only when its monthly credits run out.
