As of October 23, 2026, 01:15 JST (October 22, 16:15 UTC). Each date is from the vendor's own page, read between 00:44 and 00:54 JST on October 23 and again at 01:11 with no change; endoflife.date served only as a cross-check. Each date that passes gets a dated update below.

Seven releases from six projects reach end of life in November 2026, by their vendors' own pages: Alpine Linux 3.21 and OpenSSL 3.6 on November 1, Ruby on Rails 8.0 on November 7, .NET 8 and .NET 9 on November 10, PostgreSQL 14 on November 12, and Angular 20 on November 28.

After its date, a vendor releases no new versions of that line. Two add a caveat: Alpine says security fixes "can be made on request when there are patches available", and Rails may publish backported fixes to git. Status as of 00:46 JST on October 23 (15:46 UTC on October 22): all seven are still inside their vendors' support windows, and PostgreSQL has one more 14.x release scheduled, on November 12.

Below: each date with the vendor's own words, what end of life means to each vendor, a command to find out what you run, where to move with each vendor's upgrade notes, the latest release of each line, and the other dates around November.

Already past: OpenSSL 3.4, which its release strategy supported "until 2026-10-22", and Node.js 20, at end of life since April 30, 2026, which got no fix in the Node.js security release of October 21, 2026.

What end of life means for each

ReleaseIn the vendor's own words
Alpine Linux 3.21"The main repository is typically supported for 2 years and the community repository is supported until next stable release." 3.21's row already shows "main" only. Past the date, "Security fixes beyond that can be made on request when there are patches available."
OpenSSL 3.6Non-LTS releases after 3.5 "will be full supported for 13 months". Past the date, 3.6 joins the versions no longer supported. The page offers extended support only for 3.0, 1.1.1, and 1.0.2
Ruby on Rails 8.0Security fixes run "for two years after the first release in its series". For a series past that, the project may publish backported fixes to git, but "there will be no new versions released"
.NET 8 and .NET 9Both are in "Maintenance", where releases are "updated to mitigate security vulnerabilities, only." End of life is "the date when Microsoft no longer provides fixes, updates, or online technical assistance."
PostgreSQL 14The project "supports a major version for 5 years after its initial release. After this, a final minor version will be released and the software will then be unsupported (end-of-life)."
Angular 20In LTS, "Only critical fixes and security patches are released." The page lists "Angular versions v2 to v19" as no longer supported, and 20 joins them after November 28

Which of these do you run?

ReleaseCommandWhat to look for
Alpine Linuxcat /etc/alpine-release3.21.x. Run it inside each container image too
OpenSSLopenssl version3.6.x. It reports the library the openssl command uses; a program can bundle its own copy. Node.js 26.12.1, for one, ships OpenSSL 3.5.9, per nodejs.org's release index
Ruby on Railsbin/rails aboutRails version 8.0.x
.NETdotnet --list-runtimesMicrosoft.NETCore.App 8.0.x or 9.0.x. dotnet --list-sdks lists the SDKs
PostgreSQLSELECT version(); or SHOW server_version; in psql14.x. psql --version prints psql's own version, which can differ from the server's

Alpine Linux 3.213.24, released June 9, 2026, or 3.23The Alpine 3.24.0 release notes list its "Significant changes", among them py3-setuptools 82.0.0, which "removed the deprecated pkg_resources module" (00:51)
OpenSSL 3.63.5 LTS or 4.0OpenSSL's versioning: MINOR releases are "API/ABI compatible feature releases", and MAJOR releases carry "API/ABI incompatible changes". So 3.5 lacks what 3.6 added, and for 4.0 the OpenSSL 4.0 migration guide has a section "Upgrading from OpenSSL 3.x" (00:49)
Ruby on Rails 8.08.1Upgrading Ruby on Rails, section "Upgrading from Rails 8.0 to Rails 8.1". After changing the Rails version in the Gemfile, run bin/rails app:update (00:49)

PostgreSQL 1415, 16, 17, or 18"A dump/reload of the database or use of the pg_upgrade application is required for major upgrades." You can skip major versions, and the project asks you to read the release notes of every one in between (versioning policy, pg_upgrade; 00:46, 00:49)
Angular 2021, then 22"If you want to update across multiple major versions, perform each update one major version at a time." The Angular Update Guide lists the steps (00:49)

Tell your users about the upgrade

If one of these upgrades takes your app or database offline for a while, the people who use it hit errors until it's back. Ask your coding agent to write one HTML page that says when the upgrade happens, how long it may take, and where to check back.

Convika turns that file into a link you can share before the upgrade: sign up free, drop the file on the upload screen, check the private preview, and publish. The page runs on Convika, not on your server, so it stays up during the upgrade. On the free plan the page is public: search engines and Convika's gallery may list it, so leave out versions, hostnames, IP addresses, and anything internal.

If a server runs only a page

If one of these servers is there only to serve a landing page or a sign-up form: a page published on Convika is HTML that Convika serves, with its form handled by Convika, so it has no runtime of yours to upgrade (publish an HTML page, add a form without a backend). A Rails app, a .NET service, or a PostgreSQL database doesn't run there.

Frequently asked questions

When does .NET 8 reach end of life?

November 10, 2026. Microsoft's .NET support policy gives .NET 8, an LTS release, that end of support date, the same as .NET 9 (checked October 23, 00:46 JST). Its latest patch is 8.0.32, from October 13, 2026. .NET 10, also LTS, is supported until November 14, 2028.

Is .NET 9 supported after November 2026?

No. .NET 9 is a Standard Term Support (STS) release, and its end of support is November 10, 2026, the same day as .NET 8. Microsoft's page lists .NET 10 (LTS) as supported until November 14, 2028.

When does PostgreSQL 14 stop getting security updates?

November 12, 2026. The PostgreSQL versioning policy lists that date as 14's final release, and the project's roadmap schedules a minor release of every supported version that day. After it, PostgreSQL 14 is unsupported. Its latest release is 14.24, from August 13, 2026.

Is Rails 8.0 supported after November 7?

No. Rails' maintenance policy lists security fixes for 8.0.x "until November 7, 2026", and its bug fixes ended on May 7, 2026. After that, "there will be no new versions released" for it. Rails 8.1 gets security fixes until October 10, 2027.

When does OpenSSL 3.6 reach end of life?

November 1, 2026. OpenSSL's release strategy says "Version 3.6 will be supported until 2026-11-01". Its latest release is 3.6.5, from September 29, 2026. The LTS line, 3.5, is supported until 2030-04-08, and 4.0 until 2027-05-14.

When does Alpine 3.21 reach end of life?

November 1, 2026, per Alpine's release table, which already shows 3.21's support level as "main" only. Its latest release is 3.21.9, from October 21, 2026. Alpine 3.24 is supported until 2028-06-01, and 3.23 until 2027-11-01.

When does Angular 20 stop getting security fixes?

November 28, 2026. Angular's releases page lists ^20.0.0 in LTS, which gets "Only critical fixes and security patches", until 2026-11-28. Angular 21's LTS ends in 2027-06, and 22's in 2028-06.

What should I upgrade to?

To a line its vendor still supports, each with its own end date: Alpine 3.24 (until June 1, 2028) or 3.23 (until November 1, 2027); OpenSSL 3.5, the LTS (until April 8, 2030), or 4.0 (until May 14, 2027); Rails 8.1 (security fixes until October 10, 2027); .NET 10 (until November 14, 2028); PostgreSQL 15, 16, 17, or 18 (final releases from November 11, 2027 to November 14, 2030); and Angular 22 (LTS until June 2028) or 21 (LTS until June 2027). Angular has you update one major version at a time, and PostgreSQL needs pg_upgrade or a dump and reload for a major upgrade.

What happens after end of life?

The vendor releases no new versions of that line. Microsoft "no longer provides fixes, updates, or online technical assistance", and PostgreSQL calls the release "unsupported". Two add a caveat: Alpine says security fixes "can be made on request when there are patches available", and Rails may publish backported fixes to git, though "there will be no new versions released".

Is Redis 8.0 end of life in November 2026?

No. Redis's version management page gives Redis 8.0 an end-of-life date of December 1, 2026 (checked October 23, 00:49 JST). Redis 8.2, an "Extended" release, is supported until September 1, 2030.
