Formspree free plan: limits, and when you need hosting too

Quick answer

Formspree's free plan takes 50 form submissions a month, emails each one to up to 2 linked addresses, and keeps 30 days of history. File uploads, export, and auto-replies cost extra, and Formspree doesn't host your page. Convika Free hosts the page and adds a form with 50 entries a month and CSV export.

Free plan: no credit card, 1 published page, 50 form entries a month.

On this page

Ask ChatGPT or Claude how to make a form on a static HTML page work, and Formspree is usually in the answer. You paste its address into the form's action, and each entry arrives in your inbox. The free plan is enough for a small contact or waitlist form. It runs out in 4 places: the monthly count, the 30-day history, file uploads, and export.

Every Formspree fact below comes from Formspree's plans page and help center, read on October 20, 2026. Web3Forms and Netlify facts come from their own pages, read the same day. Prices are in US dollars.

What the Formspree free plan includes

  • 50 submissions a month, shared by every form on the account. The number of forms and projects is unlimited.
  • Email to up to 2 linked addresses. Each submission is emailed to you and saved in your Formspree inbox.
  • 30 days of submission history. If you miss an email, you can log in and read the last 30 days.
  • Basic spam filtering with Formshield, Formspree's machine-learning filter, plus reCAPTCHA.
  • Restrict to domain, so the form accepts entries only from your own site.
  • Formspree's own "Thank you" page after each submission. A thank-you page of your own starts on Personal.

The free plan has no file uploads (0 GB of storage), no export, no submission search, and no auto-reply to the person who filled in the form.

Where the free plan runs out

Past 50 submissions in a month, the form keeps working for visitors, but Formspree stops processing new entries. Its over-limit help page, updated September 30, 2026, says it saves them to your account "without sending notification emails or running plugins." They wait in an Over Limit folder until you have room again, and you can reprocess them then. Formspree emails you at 50%, 75%, and 90% of the monthly limit, and again when you pass it.

After 30 days, an entry leaves the history you can read. With no export on Free, the email is the only copy you keep.

When you need more, the paid plans add submissions and features:

Formspree vs Web3Forms vs Netlify Forms vs Convika

Formspree and Web3Forms receive the form wherever your page lives. Netlify Forms and Convika's form work only on a page that Netlify or Convika hosts. That one difference decides most choices.

None of the 4 sends an auto-reply on its free plan. Formspree starts auto-replies on Professional and Web3Forms on Pro. Convika's form has no auto-reply on any plan.

Netlify Forms costs nothing per entry, but Netlify pauses every project on the account when the 300 monthly credits run out, and a paused site takes no submissions. Is Netlify free? works through what 300 credits cover. A page on Cloudflare Pages has no form feature of its own; Does Cloudflare Pages have forms? covers its 4 routes.

Using Formspree inside a Convika page

A Formspree form in your HTML file works on Convika as written. Convika doesn't rewrite a form whose action points to a form service, so entries go to Formspree, and its free plan applies as usual.

  1. Drop the HTML file in the box above, or paste its code. The preview link lasts 3 minutes and runs no scripts or forms, so the form can't send yet.
  2. Click Keep this page — free, no card and sign up. The page moves into your account.
  3. Click Publish. The first time you publish, pick Free under Choose how to publish your page, then publish. The page goes live at an address like yourpage.convika.page. A free Public page may show up in search results and in Convika's gallery; Private link (Pro or pass) keeps it out of both.
  4. Send yourself a test entry and check that it reaches your Formspree inbox.

Keep the plain HTML version of the form: <form action="https://formspree.io/f/{form_id}" method="post">. A version that sends the form with JavaScript (fetch) doesn't work on a Convika page, because the page can send requests only to its own address. If a form you need sends that way, ask your AI: "Change this form to a plain HTML form that posts to my Formspree address with method POST."

To drop Formspree instead, click Add a form to my page in the dashboard. Convika's form stores each entry under Forms, emails it to you, and exports a CSV. On Free you see 50 entries a month. If the page has a form that posts nowhere, such as action="#", the dashboard shows "A form on this page sends entries nowhere" with a button to replace it.

Which to pick

  • Your page already has a host and gets a few entries a month: Formspree Free. 50 a month is plenty for a contact form, and nothing about the host changes.
  • More than 50 entries a month, and you only need them by email: Web3Forms Free takes 250 a month.
  • The page is on Netlify: Netlify Forms. It's free and unlimited, as long as the account stays within its credits.
  • The page has no host yet: Convika hosts it and adds a form, so the page, the entries, and the visit counts sit in one dashboard. If you'd rather keep Formspree, it works there too.
  • Your page is on GitHub Pages: GitHub doesn't receive forms, so Formspree Free fits as is. To move to a host with forms built in, GitHub Pages alternatives compares 6.
  • You need file uploads or an auto-reply: none of the free plans here do both. Formspree Professional, at $30 a month, does.

Frequently asked questions

Is Formspree free?

Yes. Formspree's Free plan costs $0 and takes 50 submissions a month across unlimited forms. It emails each one to up to 2 linked addresses and keeps 30 days of history. File uploads, export, and a thank-you page of your own start on Personal, at $15 a month or $10 a month billed yearly.

How many submissions does Formspree free allow?

50 a month, shared by every form on your account. Past 50, the form still works for visitors, and Formspree saves the entries in an Over Limit folder without emailing them. You can reprocess them once you have room again. Formspree emails you at 50%, 75%, and 90% of the limit.

What are good Formspree alternatives?

Web3Forms Free takes 250 submissions a month by email and works on any host. Netlify Forms is free and unlimited for a page that Netlify hosts. Convika hosts the page itself and adds a form that stores 50 entries a month on Free, emails each one, and exports a CSV. A Formspree form also keeps working on a Convika page.

Why does my HTML form not send email?

A browser can't send email by itself, so a form needs a service to receive it. A form that ChatGPT or Claude writes often has action="#" or no action, and the entry goes nowhere. Point the action at a service such as Formspree or Web3Forms, give every field a name, and send a test entry. On Convika, you can replace the form with one that stores and emails each entry.
