Is Framer free? What the Free plan includes, and what needs a paid plan

Short answer

Yes. Framer's Free plan publishes your site on a framer.app address with a “Made in Framer” badge, 1 GB of bandwidth, and 500 AI credits to try, and Framer calls it “ideal for non-commercial use.” A custom domain needs a paid site plan, starting with Basic at $10 a month billed yearly. For a landing or waitlist page, Convika's Free plan connects 1 custom subdomain, such as www, allows commercial use, and adds a form that keeps signups and 90 days of visitor stats.

Free plan: no credit card, 10 pages, 1 custom subdomain.

Framer's pricing page lists the Free plan at $0 with a “Free Framer domain,” “1 GB bandwidth,” and “500 AI credits to try.” You can design and publish a whole site on it. What it leaves out is your own domain, and the “Made in Framer” badge stays on until you add one.

This page covers what Free includes, what each paid plan adds, and what Framer says about using Free for a business. Each fact comes from Framer's pricing page and help center, read on October 12, 2026. Prices are in US dollars, as Framer's pricing page shows them with yearly billing; billed monthly, they're higher.

What Framer's Free plan includes

Framer's plans are site plans: you upgrade the one site that needs more. From the pricing page:

Framer's pricing FAQ describes Free this way: “Projects on the Free plan include access to 10 CMS collections, 1,000 pages, 5 MB file uploads, and one free locale to try. This makes it easy to explore Framer, use it as a design tool, or create templates.” A workspace without a paid plan can have up to 3 editors.

Custom domains need a paid plan

The pricing FAQ says: “To connect a custom domain, you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan.” The cheapest is Framer Basic, at $10 a month billed yearly, for the site you upgrade. Basic and Pro both include a complimentary domain when billed yearly. Framer's help on choosing a plan says “The Basic plan is usually the best fit for portfolios and personal sites that need a custom domain.”

“Ideal for non-commercial use”: what Framer says about business sites

The pricing FAQ: “Our Free plan is ideal for non-commercial use. The Basic plan caters to students, freelancers, and small studios. The Pro plan is designed for teams at agencies, startups, and scale-ups who run their full marketing stack on Framer.” The help center puts Free the same way: “The Free plan is perfect for hobbyists and personal projects.”

Framer doesn't say more than that: the pricing page names no consequence for a business site on Free, and Framer's terms of service, effective June 16, 2026, don't mention the Free plan. For a site that sells something, Framer points you to Basic or Pro.

The “Made in Framer” badge

Framer's plan guide says Free sites come “with a ‘Made in Framer’ banner displayed when published.” Its badge article, updated September 23, 2026, says the badge “will automatically disappear once you connect a custom domain or upgrade your site to a paid subscription,” and that “you must republish your site after upgrading or connecting a custom domain for the badge to be removed.” A custom domain itself needs a paid plan, so on Free the badge stays.

Going over the Free plan's limits

From the pricing FAQ: “When you reach certain limits, we will ask you to upgrade your plan in Framer. For other limits, like bandwidth, we allow you to exceed your limit for one month. You'll receive a notification via email so you can upgrade your plan accordingly.” The page doesn't say what happens to a Free site after that month.

Forms on the Free plan

Framer's help on adding a contact form, updated September 15, 2026, says native forms “Send submissions to email, Google Sheets, or custom webhooks,” with “built-in spam protection and rate limiting.” The article names no plan requirement.

Your own domain for a landing page, free: Convika

Convika hosts landing pages, one HTML page each, with the form and the visitor stats built in. For a landing or waitlist page, Convika's Free plan includes:

  • Your own subdomain, such as www.yourbrand.com or waitlist.yourbrand.com, with the SSL certificate issued for you. The Free plan connects 1.
  • Commercial use on every plan, Free included, under section 7 of the terms. That covers a startup's waitlist, a product page, and a client's page you build and host.
  • A form that keeps the signups. Click Add a form to my page, and Convika adds a form that stores each entry, emails it to you, and exports to CSV.
  • 90 days of visitor stats: visits, referrers, UTM campaigns, devices, countries, and button clicks.
  • AI clients that publish for you. Claude, Claude Code, and Codex connect to Convika's MCP server and sign in to your account with OAuth, so you never paste a deploy token or API key into the chat. They can read the page's visits and form entries back to you, too.

3 ways to get the page onto Convika

  1. Rebuild it from the framer.app link. Paste the link into the free rebuild tool and click Rebuild my page. You don't need an account. Convika reads the page, keeps its colors and fonts, writes a new version from its text, and lists what it changed and why. In a test on October 12, 2026, on a startup template's framer.app site from Framer's marketplace, the tool read the home page and returned a private preview in under a minute, with 5 changes listed. Click Keep this page to sign up free and move the page into your account, then Add a form to my page, then Publish.
  2. Describe it in the dashboard. Sign up free, click Create with AI, and describe the page, or paste a link to a page it should start from. A new page costs 1 AI credit on the default model, and Free accounts start with 10.
  3. Upload one HTML file. If ChatGPT or Claude wrote the page as a single HTML file, click Upload an HTML file in the dashboard and add the .html or .htm file, up to 2 MB, or paste its code. Uploading uses no AI credits.

The Free plan includes 10 pages, with a small “Powered by Convika” badge. Pro, at $12 a month after a 14-day free trial, removes the badge and the monthly cap on form entries. How to create a waitlist landing page walks through the form and the tagged links in detail.

Where Framer fits better: a multi-page site, CMS collections, or a design you lay out by hand on a canvas. Convika hosts one HTML page per site, you change it by telling the AI rather than on a design canvas, and custom domains are subdomains such as www.

Which one to pick

  • A multi-page site or a portfolio you design yourself, for a personal project: Framer's Free plan, on a framer.app address.
  • A Framer site that sells something, or needs your domain: Framer Basic, at $10 a month billed yearly, for that site.
  • A landing or waitlist page on your own domain, with no monthly fee: Convika's Free plan. Rebuild the page from its framer.app link, keep the signups in Convika's form, and see which links bring visitors.
  • An app with sign-ins or a database: a builder such as Lovable. Is Lovable free? covers its Free plan.

Free landing page hosting with a form and your own domain compares more hosts with a free plan.
