How to share a Claude artifact as a link, or deploy it to a real web address

Quick answer

When you click Claude's Share button, you get a claude.ai link that opens only for people signed in to Claude. That has been the rule for every new artifact since September 16, 2026: Anthropic's sharing guide makes one exception, a legacy artifact made in a chat before that date and published, and Claude Code's docs add its public links. On the Claude Free plan, you cannot share new artifacts by link at all. If your friend, client, or class lacks a Claude account, you need another link. Copy the artifact's code and publish it as a web page instead. Anyone can open it in a browser, on a phone, or on a school Chromebook without creating an account. Students under 18 cannot have Claude accounts, so teachers hand the class this link or its QR code. On Convika, you paste the code once with nothing to install. The Free plan adds a form that stores signups, 90 days of visit stats, and 1 custom subdomain such as www.yourbrand.com. To let Claude publish and edit the page from then on, add Convika to Claude as a connector.

Publish your artifact free

Free plan: no credit card, 1 published page, 50 form entries a month.

On this page

You sent someone your artifact link, and they saw a Claude sign-in screen. A Claude Share link opens only for people signed in to Claude, even when they have the link. Since September 16, 2026, every artifact you make in a Claude chat or from a template works this way: Anthropic's artifacts guide calls the ones made in a chat before that date legacy artifacts, and a published legacy artifact is the only chat artifact that opens without an account. Claude Code's public links are the other exception, according to its docs. A client, a friend, or a classroom without accounts cannot see your work. This guide walks through Claude's own sharing first. Then it shows the shortest way to get a link anyone opens: copy your code, paste it into Convika, and publish. You have nothing to install, and you need no connector to start.

What Claude's own sharing gives you

Every artifact lives on a claude.ai address. Who can open it depends on how you made it, per Anthropic's sharing guide.

  • Artifacts you make in Claude today. Click Share, then choose Anyone with the link. This option is available on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. On Team and Enterprise accounts, an Owner must turn on external sharing first, or allow that specific artifact. Pro and higher plans also let you invite people by email in beta. Either way, “Everyone needs a Claude account. People without one can't open a shared artifact, even with the link.” Artifacts that use Claude or connected apps do not get Anyone with the link. You can manage these sharing settings only in Claude on the web or the desktop app. You cannot set them in the iOS or Android app.
  • Older artifacts made in a chat before September 16, 2026. These show a Publish button on Free, Pro, and Max plans. A published link opens for anyone, with no Claude account needed. Click Get embed code to place the artifact directly on another website.
  • Artifacts from Claude Code. According to Claude Code's docs, these give you a public link that requires no sign-in. This works on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. On Team and Enterprise accounts, public sharing stays off until an Owner turns it on. The page is “one self-contained page with no backend”. Any scripts inside it reach only its own origin.

None of these docs mention custom domains or visitor analytics. On Pro and higher plans, an artifact can save data between visits, either in personal storage, where each person sees only their own data, or in shared storage, where everyone who opens it sees the same data (what that means for scores and entries). That setup works for a draft you show a friend. It breaks down when you run ad traffic to a page or post a launch link. If you are sending a report, deck, or draft to someone without a Claude account, see links versus attachments and how they open on a phone in how to share an HTML file from Claude. If you need to present slides directly from a link, read how to share an HTML slide deck as a link.

Who can see your artifact, and whether Google can find it

Your artifacts start out private to you. When you share an artifact from a Claude chat today, only people signed in to Claude can open it, so a search engine cannot read it. Older artifacts published from a chat stay open for anyone with the link. In July 2026, some of those older artifacts showed up in Google alongside shared chats. When you want a page found, you publish it at your own address. When you have a draft, you want a private link search engines are told to skip. If you teach students under 18 who cannot create Claude accounts, see how to share a Claude artifact with students to send a link your whole class can open.

What happened in July 2026. On July 25, a Reddit user showed that a Google search limited to claude.ai's share addresses listed shared Claude chats and published artifacts. The results included a medical report and internal project plans. Anthropic stated that it does “not share chat directories or sitemaps with search engines like Google” and added that “these shareable links are not guessable or discoverable unless people choose to share them themselves”, according to The Next Web, July 28, 2026. By July 27 US time, those same searches returned nothing. Anthropic's help center now explains that every shared chat page carries a “noindex” instruction, though anyone who finds a link posted on a forum or social feed can still open it (Public links for shared chats). The same issue hit other AI tools. OpenAI removed its “Make this chat discoverable” option in July 2025. In August 2025, TechRadar reported over 370,000 shared Grok chats appearing in Google.

To see every chat you have shared, open Claude, go to Settings > Privacy, and click Manage next to Shared chats. Click Unshare next to any chat to turn its link off (Anthropic).

On Convika, you decide what's public. When you create a draft, Convika generates a preview link with a random 64-character token. Search engines are told not to index this draft, test form entries submitted through it are not saved, and the link stops working after 3 minutes (1 hour when Claude makes the draft through the connector). Publishing is a separate step that puts your page at its own address. Anyone with the link can open it without an account. When you publish, choose Public (free) to let search engines list it, where it may also appear in Convika's gallery, or Private link (Pro or pass) to keep it out of search results, your sitemap, and the gallery. If you want to limit access to specific people, you can set a password on Pro. Visitors see a password screen, and Convika displays the page only after someone types the correct password. Read How to password protect an HTML page to see the setup on Pro and what visitors see. Any form entries go directly to your dashboard rather than appearing on the page, and only your workspace members can read them. You can unpublish your page at any time while keeping all your saved versions. If you are sending a private draft to just one person, read how to share an HTML file from Claude to compare links with file attachments.

Publish your artifact in 5 steps

Copy the artifact's code

If you created a Claude Design page with the Design template, the process is simpler. Click Export, then select Export as standalone HTML. Upload that file as is, with no placeholder. Convika adds the form below the design later. Follow our walkthrough: How to publish a Claude Design website. For anything else, first ask Claude for 2 changes in the same chat. If the page has a form, tell Claude: “Replace the form with <div data-convika-form></div>.” This marks where Convika puts a working form later. If you have a React component, ask Claude: “Convert this to a single HTML file with the CSS and JavaScript inline, no build step.” Then get your code. For an older chat artifact, use the controls at the top of the artifact panel to view the code and copy it, or download it. For a newer artifact, ask Claude: “Give me the whole page as one HTML file.”

Create a free Convika account

Sign up at app.convika.com. The Free plan needs no credit card and gives you 1 published page.

Paste the code

Go to your dashboard and select Upload an HTML file. If you have copied code, click the Paste code tab and paste it. If you have a downloaded file, click the Upload a file tab. Convika takes .html and .htm files up to 2 MB. Click Create my preview. Convika makes a new page, and uploading uses no AI credits.

Check the private preview

When you see “Your preview is ready,” click Open preview. Your preview link is private and works for 3 minutes; click Open preview again for a new one. Nothing is public yet. Check the page on your phone and your computer. If you see a blank section, check what won't work outside Claude below.

Publish

Click Publish page. Under Who can open this page?, choose Public and click Next. The first time you publish, Convika shows Publish free, and under it Publish without the Convika bar, which opens an order for Pro monthly (1 day free with a card, then $12 a month). To publish on Free, click Publish free. Your page is live at an address like yourpage.convika.page. Anyone opens it with no account. The next 2 sections cover a form that keeps signups, and your own domain.

Make the signup form work

The form Claude drew has nowhere of yours to send entries. A Claude Code artifact calls only its own origin. A chat artifact keeps its storage inside Claude. Go to your page's dashboard screen and click Add a form to my page. Choose fields for email only, name and email, or name, email, and message. Set your button text. Convika puts a working form where the data-convika-form placeholder is, or above the footer if there is none. On a Claude Design page, it places the form below the design. Convika adds this as a new preview version. Check it, then publish.

Without a placeholder, Claude's old form remains there. Type “Remove the old form and keep the Convika form” into Edit with AI. That uses 1 AI credit on the default model so visitors do not fill in a dead form. Test entries from the preview are checked, not saved. Your list stays clean until launch.

Find your entries under Forms, with CSV export available. Free shows 50 entries a month across forms, and keeps the rest for Pro with no cap. If your page is only for collecting emails, read how to make a waitlist landing page.

Connect your own domain

Open your page's dashboard screen and select Manage domains, then choose Add domain. Enter a hostname such as www.yourbrand.com. Convika displays a CNAME record and a TXT record for you. Add both records at your domain's registrar, then click Check status. Once Convika finds the records, your domain becomes active and Convika issues an SSL certificate for you. DNS updates usually finish in minutes, though some take up to 48 hours.

The automatic setup works with subdomains such as www or go, rather than a bare domain like yourbrand.com. If you want to use the bare domain too, forward it to www at your DNS provider. The Free plan includes 1 domain. The Pro plan has no limit.

Let Claude publish and edit the page for you

Pasting your code into Convika is enough to go live. If you plan to keep changing the page, connect Convika to Claude once. After that, each step takes one message in the chat.

  1. Open Claude on the web or desktop app. Go to Customize → Connectors, click + Add, and choose Add custom connector. Enter https://mcp.convika.com, then sign in to Convika when prompted. According to Anthropic's connector guide, the Claude Free plan allows 1 custom connector.
  2. In the chat with your artifact, write: “Save this page to Convika and give me a preview link.” Claude sends the HTML and returns a private preview URL.
  3. Next, write: “Add an email signup form under the headline,” “Publish it,” and “Connect www.yourbrand.com.”
  4. A day later, ask: “How many people visited, where did they come from, and how many signed up?” Claude reads Convika's analytics and answers directly in the chat.

Saving and publishing through the connector uses no Convika AI credits, because Claude writes the page. The connection is a standard Convika sign-in in your browser, so you never paste an API key into the chat. To see what the connection can reach, read about how to deploy without handing Claude Code your hosting keys. If you use Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http convika https://mcp.convika.com once, then sign in from /mcp. We also have a full walkthrough on how to deploy a landing page from Claude Code and a guide to landing page MCP servers compared for other servers that publish pages.

Other ways to publish a Claude artifact, ranked

We ranked these options by the setup you need before your page gets a public URL. Except for Claude's own Share button, every option starts when you copy your artifact's code in step 1.

Choose your host based on what your page needs to do. Use Claude's Share to show a quick draft to a friend. Pick Cloudflare Pages or GitHub Pages if you need a personal page that handles heavy traffic. If you want to collect signups on your own domain and see which sites send visitors your way, Convika Free covers all 3. For detailed prices and limits, see our guides on free landing page hosting with a form and single-file hosts compared.

What won't work outside Claude

Scripts run on every plan, including Free. Tailwind, Google Fonts, icon libraries loaded from a CDN, onclick handlers, embedded YouTube videos, maps, and images with full https:// links all work. The list below covers what needs a paid plan or does not run outside Claude.

  • Features that run on Claude. Anything that asks Claude questions or reads connected apps relies on Anthropic's infrastructure. These parts stop working once your page leaves Claude. Saving with window.storage, Claude's storage calls, keeps working on a Convika page, though the data saved in Claude stays there. Tell Claude: “Remove the features that call Claude, and keep the page static. Keep any window.storage calls.” For a score or settings the artifact saves, see the next section.
  • React components that need a build step. Convika serves one HTML document per page. Ask Claude to convert your components into plain HTML before you copy the code.
  • Requests to other websites. A script's fetch and XHR requests on a Convika page reach only the page's own address. On Pro, the analytics tools in the next item and the hosts you list for your own ad network are the exceptions.
  • Analytics and heatmap tools. Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics, Clarity, Hotjar, Plausible, PostHog, and Mixpanel collect data only on Pro and above. Convika's own visit counts work on the Free plan.
  • Libraries that run code written in HTML attributes Alpine.js is one example. Ask Claude: “Rewrite the Alpine.js parts in plain JavaScript.”

If you plan to add analytics yourself on another host, compare Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics, and Convika's built-in stats in how to see who visits your page.

Convika is the wrong fit for apps that need a login, a database, or several routes. Convika hosts landing pages.

What happens to saved data and scores

On Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, an artifact can keep data between visits in Claude on the web and Claude Desktop. Anthropic's artifacts guide names 2 kinds:

  • Personal storage. Each person keeps their own data. In a journal, your entries stay visible only to you.
  • Shared storage. Everyone who opens the artifact sees and changes the same data. In a game leaderboard, everyone sees the same scores. Claude asks you to confirm the first time you use an artifact with shared storage.

Both kinds live in Claude, with a limit of 20 MB per artifact, and they hold text only: no images, files, or binary data. A legacy artifact stores data only after you publish it, and unpublishing it permanently deletes everything it stored. Anthropic's sharing guide warns that some artifacts save information everyone who opens them can see, so check before you type anything private into someone else's artifact.

None of that data comes with the code you copy. Saved entries, journal pages, and leaderboard scores stay in Claude, and the published page starts empty. The storage calls in the code keep working on Convika: since October 21, 2026, a Convika page whose code uses window.storage gets the same calls. Personal values stay in each visitor's own browser. Shared values are kept by Convika for that page, so every visitor sees the same leaderboard, up to your plan's storage limit per page, and the page's owner can see and clear them in Page settings. On a preview link, shared saves stay in that browser tab, so testing never changes the live page. Convika has no leaderboard feature or player accounts of its own.

Frequently asked questions

Click Share in Claude on the web or desktop, select Anyone with the link, and copy the address. Only people signed in to Claude can open this link. Claude Free does not offer link sharing for new artifacts. On Team and Enterprise plans, the Owner must turn on external sharing or allow that specific artifact. If you want a link that anyone can open, deploy the code to a host. On Convika, paste your code under Upload an HTML file. Check your preview, then click Publish.

How do I publish a Claude artifact as a real website?

Copy your artifact's code or download it as an HTML file, then upload it to a web host. On Convika, click Upload an HTML file and open the Paste code tab. Select Create my preview. Check your preview, then click Publish page, choose Public, click Next, then, the first time, click Publish free. Your page receives an address that anyone can open without a Claude account. You can then connect your own subdomain and keep form entries from the same dashboard.

What's the best way to host a page Claude made?

The best hosting option depends on the job your page needs to do. Netlify Drop and Cloudflare Pages provide free, fast static hosting. Netlify captures form entries once you turn on form detection and deploy again, but every project pauses when you spend your 300 monthly credits. Cloudflare Pages includes free Web Analytics, but it lacks built-in forms unless you write a handler or connect an outside form service. GitHub Pages is free for personal projects, but you cannot use it to run a business. Convika Free keeps everything in one place: your page, a form that stores entries, 90 days of visit stats, and 1 custom subdomain.

Can I put a Claude artifact on my own domain?

No, you cannot put a Claude artifact on your own domain inside Claude. A shared artifact stays on a claude.ai link, though at most you can embed an older published artifact on another site. To use your own domain, host the HTML on a service that supports custom domains. Convika Free includes 1 subdomain, such as www.yourbrand.com. You set it up with a CNAME and a TXT record, and Convika issues an SSL certificate for you.

Do I need to add a connector?

No, you do not need to add a connector to use Convika. Pasting your code into the dashboard is enough to publish your page, add a form, and connect a domain. A connector is worth adding if you want Claude to handle tasks for you. It lets Claude save and publish pages, update your copy, and answer questions about your site visits directly in the chat.

Can I share a Claude artifact with someone who doesn't have a Claude account?

Not with Claude's Share link. Anthropic's sharing guide says “Everyone needs a Claude account,” and Anyone with the link opens only for people signed in to Claude. The exceptions are a legacy artifact, made in a chat before September 16, 2026 and published, and a public link from Claude Code, according to its docs. For anyone else, publish the code on a host: a Convika page works as an ordinary website, so anyone can open it without an account.

Because a shared artifact opens only for people signed in to Claude, even with the link. That has applied to every new artifact since September 16, 2026, when artifacts made in a chat before that date became legacy artifacts. A published legacy artifact still opens without an account. If the person you sent it to has no Claude account, copy the code and publish it as a web page.

What is shared storage in a Claude artifact?

Shared storage is data that everyone who opens the artifact sees and works with, such as the scores on a game leaderboard. Personal storage is the other kind, where each person sees only their own data. Both are on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise, hold up to 20 MB of text per artifact, and stay in Claude. A page you publish elsewhere doesn't take the stored data with it. On a Convika page the storage calls keep working, starting empty, as What happens to saved data and scores explains.

Can I share a live artifact from Claude Cowork?

Only inside your organization. Anthropic calls artifacts made in Claude Cowork before August 19, 2026 live artifacts, and their sharing “stays within your organization. There are no external or public links” (Use live artifacts in Claude Cowork). Cowork artifacts made on or after August 19, 2026 work like any other artifact, so a Share link still asks the viewer to sign in to Claude.

Are Claude artifacts public?

No, Claude artifacts start private and remain private until you share them. Choosing Anyone with the link still limits access to people signed in to Claude. Only two types open for anyone with the address: older chat artifacts created before September 16, 2026 and shared with Publish, and public Claude Code artifacts noted in its docs. A page published on Convika is public by default. Anyone with the address can view it, and search engines can list it. On a Pro plan, you can set a password to limit access to specific people.

Can Google find my Claude artifact?

Google cannot find a Claude artifact shared from a chat today because visitors must sign in. Older published artifacts remain open to anyone with the link. Some appeared in Google search results in July 2026, but searches returned nothing by July 27 (US time). In our check on October 11, 2026, claude.ai share and published-artifact addresses told search engines not to index them. Anyone who discovers your link on a forum or social feed can still open it. If you want Google to index your page, publish it at your own web address, and Convika will add it to the sitemap.

How do I make a Claude artifact private?

To make an artifact private, open Claude on the web or desktop, click Share, and select Only you or Only people invited under Who has access. Pro and Max plans use Only you, while Team and Enterprise plans use Only people invited. On Pro and Max, people invited by email keep access until you open their access level and select Remove. If you have an older artifact published from a chat, click Unpublish. You cannot publish that artifact again, and sharing it later creates a new artifact. To review your shared chats, go to Settings > Privacy and click Manage next to Shared chats.

A Convika preview link is visible only to people who have the exact URL. Each preview uses a random 64-character token. Convika tells search engines not to index or archive the page, and not to follow its links. The link stops working after 3 minutes (1 hour for one Claude makes through the connector) or when you generate a new preview. You can test form submissions on the preview, but Convika does not save them. Nothing appears at your public address until you click publish.

My artifact is a React app. Will it work?

A React app will work on Convika if you export it as a single HTML document. Each Convika landing page runs as 1 HTML file, with styles and scripts placed inline or loaded from a CDN. Ask Claude to convert your React artifact to plain HTML before copying the code, then check the preview. If your project requires a server, a database, or multiple routes, you will need a different kind of host.

Does publishing from Claude use Convika's AI credits?

No, publishing your code from Claude does not consume Convika's AI credits. Pasting code, uploading files, and saving through the connector use zero credits. Credits pay only for Convika's built-in AI tools, such as the Edit with AI button on the page dashboard.

What does it cost?

Convika offers a Free plan that requires no credit card. The Free plan includes 1 published page, 10,000 pageviews a month, 50 form entries a month shown (entries past that are kept and show on Pro), 1 custom domain, and a small Convika bar. Pro removes the bar and shows every form entry. Pro costs $12 a month.

Can I edit the page after it's live?

Yes, you can edit your page after it goes live. You can ask Claude to update it through the connector, or type changes into Edit with AI on the page dashboard. Using Edit with AI with the default model costs 1 AI credit, and Free accounts start with 10 credits. Either route creates a new version with a preview before you publish, and you can roll back to an earlier version if needed. If you paste the code into the upload box again, Convika creates a separate page with its own address.
