Is ChatGPT Sites free? Which plans have it, and how to publish on Free or Go

Quick answer

No. ChatGPT Sites is not on Free or Go. It is included with Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu, within usage and storage limits, and Plus at $20 a month is the cheapest plan that has it. On Free or Go, ChatGPT can still write the whole page; you publish the file somewhere else. On Convika's Free plan, you publish the HTML ChatGPT wrote, the form keeps the entries, the dashboard shows which sites sent your visitors, and your own subdomain such as www connects, free for 1 published page and 50 form entries a month, with a small Convika bar.

On this page

ChatGPT Sites is OpenAI's way to build a page in ChatGPT and host it there, without moving any files. It has no price of its own during the public beta: it's included with Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu, within usage and storage limits. Plus, at $20 a month, is the cheapest plan that has it. OpenAI's help center says it plainly: “Sites is not available on Free or Go.”. On Free or Go, ChatGPT can still write the whole page; you publish the file somewhere else.

The page covers which plans have Sites, its limits, and custom domains; then how to get the page out of ChatGPT; then compares Sites with 5 hosts that take the file, on what a live page needs: your own domain, a form that keeps entries, and visitor stats. Convika, which publishes this page, is one of the 5. OpenAI's details come from its docs, help center, pricing pages, and Sites terms, and the other hosts' from their own pricing pages and docs, all read on October 11, 2026; OpenAI's help center and release notes were read again on October 21, 2026. Sites is in public beta, so check OpenAI's docs before deciding.

Which ChatGPT plans have Sites and what it costs

ChatGPT's pricing page lists Sites on Plus and Pro, not on Free or Go. OpenAI's pricing docs add Business, Enterprise, and Education.

ChatGPT planPriceSites
Free$0No
Go$8 a monthNo
Plus$20 a monthYes
ProFrom $100 a monthYes
Business$20 per user a month, billed annually for 2 or more users; $25 billed monthlyYes, on by default
Enterprise and EduThrough OpenAI's sales teamYes; in Enterprise, an admin turns it on

There is no separate charge: “Sites is included with eligible ChatGPT plans during public beta. Availability depends on your plan, region, and workspace settings.” Building or editing a Site counts toward your Codex usage, and hosting it is counted separately. If you don't see Sites on an eligible plan, the help center says to check that you're signed in to the right account or workspace.

Here is what a Site can do, from OpenAI's Sites docs:

  • Build and publish from the chat. Sites “lets ChatGPT create, host, refine, and share websites, web apps, and games.” In ChatGPT on the web or in the desktop app, you include the word “website” in your prompt or mention @Sites, review the preview, ask for changes, and publish to a ChatGPT-hosted address.
  • Store records and files. A Site can keep records, such as what visitors submit, in a D1 database of up to 10 GB, and files in R2 object storage, which has no fixed limit.
  • Track visitor stats. Sites records traffic with no script to add: “The analytics view shows total unique visitors and page views, plus both metrics over time.”
  • Decide who can open it. A new Site is limited to you and your workspace admins until you change its access. The options go from people you invite up to “Anyone on the internet, only when public publishing is enabled.”

If you pay for one of those plans and want ChatGPT to build and change the site, Sites is the shortest route. On Free or Go, put the page online without Sites: Convika's Free plan publishes the HTML ChatGPT wrote, keeps the form entries, and shows which sites sent your visitors.

ChatGPT Sites limits

OpenAI names the kinds of limits, but does not publish each plan's numbers. ChatGPT shows a message in Sites when you reach one. Here is what OpenAI's docs, help center, and the ChatGPT Sites Terms, updated July 23, 2026, say:

  • OpenAI enforces usage limits across your Sites. Since October 15, 2026, Plus and Pro have no fixed limit on the number of Sites, but “usage and storage limits still apply across your Sites.” If you reach a shared limit, the help center says “you may be unable to create a new Site, even if it won't use storage.” The current limits show in Sites.
  • Storage depends on the specific database. You get 10 GB per Site in the D1 database, and R2 has no fixed limit.
  • Visitor stats track only two metrics. You see unique visitors and page views, with no mention of where visitors came from. Analytics is unavailable for Sites that an Enterprise workspace owns.
  • OpenAI limits what your site runs. “Some frameworks, private networks, databases, background services, and hosting patterns aren't supported.” Raw TCP connections are not supported either. In workspaces with US or EU data residency, new Sites use the workspace's region for supported storage and hosting; residency in other regions doesn't apply to Sites yet, and existing Sites aren't moved (Managing ChatGPT Sites for your workspace).
  • Sites do not handle financial transactions. A Site cannot process payment-card data or facilitate financial transactions itself. You can sell goods or services through a third-party payment processor that you connect and maintain.
  • OpenAI may add branded attribution to your page. OpenAI “may display attribution text or links in your website footer or toolbar, such as noting that your website is powered by ChatGPT.”
  • OpenAI can take your site down at any time. Sites is a beta service, and OpenAI reserves the right to “delete, remove, unpublish, or otherwise disable your ChatGPT Site, at any time for any reason, including if we determine it violates this Agreement or exposes us or others to harm.”

Convika's Free plan states its limits as numbers: 1 published page, 10,000 pageviews a month, 50 form entries a month, and 30 publishes a day. Free includes 10,000 pageviews a month. At 10,000 in a month editing pauses, and 7 days later the landing page stops until the month ends or you upgrade. In a workspace created before October 23, 2026 (Japan time), this starts on November 1, 2026. Past 50 entries the form keeps taking them, and they show once you are on Pro.

Custom domains on ChatGPT Sites

Where custom domains are available, a Site connects an apex domain such as yourbrand.com or a subdomain such as www.yourbrand.com that you already own. Sites doesn't register domains, so you need to be able to change the domain's DNS records, and custom domains “aren't available in Enterprise workspaces at launch.” Only the Site's owner can connect one: open the Site's settings, select Add domain, enter the domain, and add the DNS records Sites shows at your domain provider.

On Free or Go, Convika's Free plan connects 1 subdomain, such as www.yourbrand.com, to the page ChatGPT wrote. Click Manage domains, then Add domain, and add the CNAME and TXT records Convika shows; the SSL certificate is issued for you. Convika connects subdomains only, so forward the bare yourbrand.com to www at your DNS provider.

Put a ChatGPT page online without Sites

1. Get the page out of ChatGPT as one HTML file

In a regular chat, on every plan, ChatGPT can write the whole page as code. Ask it with “Put the whole page in one HTML file, with the CSS and JavaScript inline, as a file I can download.” Download the .html file, or copy all the code from the code block. If you plan to host on Convika and the page has a form, first ask “Replace the form with <div data-convika-form></div>.” That marks where a working form goes later.

2. Pick a host

The table below compares 5 hosts with Sites. Each host takes a single HTML file, whichever ChatGPT plan you use. If the page has a form, pick a host that stores entries, or plan to add a form service.

3. Upload the file and publish

The box above puts the page on a private Convika preview link in seconds, with no signup. The link works for 3 minutes, and the page's scripts and forms stay off until you keep it with a free account. The same box is on the free HTML publishing tool page. To publish, sign up free, click Upload an HTML file in the dashboard, and drop the file (.html or .htm, up to 2 MB) or paste the code. Click Create my preview, check the page, and click Publish page. Choose Public, click Next, and, the first time, click Publish free. Uploading uses no AI credits. The guide How to publish ChatGPT HTML as a live website has every step, including the form and your own domain.

For the other hosts, drop the file at app.netlify.com/drop and sign in to claim it, add it to a public GitHub repository as index.html and publish from a branch, or put it in a folder and drag the folder into a new Cloudflare Pages project.

Here is what to watch for with each host.

  • ChatGPT Sites: It is a public beta, and reaching a shared usage limit can stop you creating a new Site. Every deployment URL is a production deployment, so ask ChatGPT to save a version without deploying it when you want to review first.
  • GitHub Pages: On GitHub Free the repository must be public, so anyone can read your HTML. GitHub's usage limits rule out running “your online business, e-commerce site,” or SaaS on it. The page GitHub Pages commercial use covers what that includes.
  • Netlify Drop: If you drop the file without signing in, the URL stays behind a temporary password until you claim it. Teams created on or after July 28, 2026 start projects private, so select Make public after claiming. A production deploy costs 15 credits.
  • Cloudflare Pages: There is no form without code, and Cloudflare's Pages docs now say “Start new projects with Workers.”
  • Tiiny Host: Free pages show a Tiiny Host banner, and free links stay online as long as you sign in at least every 3 months.
  • Convika: Custom domains must be subdomains like www. Each page is one HTML document, so images need full https:// links.

When ChatGPT Sites is the better choice

ChatGPT Sites is the better choice in these specific situations.

  • You want ChatGPT to make every change. You pay for Plus, Pro, or a workspace plan. You describe the edit in ChatGPT and publish again. You have no file to download and upload each time.
  • The site is an app. Sites can keep saved records and user progress in D1, store uploaded files in R2, and add Sign in with ChatGPT. In a workspace where plugins are on, a private Site can show each visitor data from their own connected apps. Convika hosts 1 HTML page per site, with a form and stats, and has no login.
  • Only your team should open it. Depending on your plan and workspace settings, a Site can be limited to your workspace, to chosen people or groups, or to people you invite from outside. Convika Pro can put 1 shared password on a page. It does not limit access by account.
  • You want a bare domain like yourbrand.com. Sites connects an apex domain where custom domains are available.

Convika fits the other cases. You are on Free or Go. You would rather keep the HTML file and edit it yourself or in another AI than in ChatGPT. You also want the form entries, the sites that sent your visitors, and your UTM campaigns in 1 dashboard on a free plan.

Which one to pick

  • You are on ChatGPT Free or Go, and the page collects signups or inquiries or you want to see where visitors came from: Convika's Free plan, then Pro at $12 a month past 50 entries a month.
  • You are on Free or Go and you only need a link today: Netlify Drop. Sign in to claim the page and make it public.
  • You have a personal, non-commercial page and you are comfortable with Git: GitHub Pages.
  • You expect a lot of traffic and will add a form service: Cloudflare Pages. The guide How to make the form on your AI-made page work compares Formspree, Netlify Forms, and Google Forms.
  • You pay for Plus or Pro and want ChatGPT to build and run the site: ChatGPT Sites.

More hosts, including Vercel, Google Sites, and Carrd, are compared in free landing page hosting with a form and Tiiny Host alternatives.

Frequently asked questions

Is ChatGPT Sites free?

ChatGPT Sites is not free on ChatGPT's Free plan. There is no separate charge during the beta, but access requires Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu. It is not on Free or Go. Plus costs $20 a month and is the cheapest plan with Sites, and every plan has usage limits. On Free or Go, download the page ChatGPT wrote as an HTML file and upload it to a host. Convika's Free plan hosts it with a form that keeps entries, visit stats that show which sites sent your visitors, and 1 custom subdomain.

Is ChatGPT Sites available on the Free or Go plan?

No, ChatGPT Sites is not available on the Free or Go plan. OpenAI's help center says “Sites is not available on Free or Go,” and its docs list Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu for the beta. Availability also depends on region and workspace settings. On Free or Go, ask ChatGPT for the page as one HTML file and upload it to a host such as Convika, Netlify Drop, or GitHub Pages.

How much does ChatGPT Sites cost?

ChatGPT Sites has no price of its own. During the beta it is included with the plans that have it, and OpenAI's help center says “Sites hosting is currently included with ChatGPT Plus and Pro.” Plus costs $20 a month, and Pro starts at $100. Building or editing a Site counts toward your Codex usage, and running and hosting it, including traffic and storage, is counted separately. Reaching a shared limit can stop you creating a new Site.

What are ChatGPT Sites' limits?

Usage and storage limits apply across all your Sites, and Sites shows a message when you reach one. On Plus and Pro, the number of Sites has had no fixed limit since October 15, 2026. Each Site gets a D1 database of up to 10 GB and R2 file storage with no fixed limit. Some frameworks and background services are not supported, and a Site cannot process payment-card data except through a third-party payment processor. Convika's Free plan states its limits as numbers: 1 published page, 10,000 pageviews a month, 50 form entries a month, and 30 publishes a day.

Can I use a custom domain with ChatGPT Sites?

Yes, you can use your own domain where custom domains are available. Connect an apex domain or a subdomain you own by adding the DNS records Sites shows. Sites does not register domains, only the Site's owner can connect one, and custom domains are not in Enterprise workspaces at launch. On Free or Go, Convika's Free plan connects 1 subdomain, such as www.yourbrand.com, to the page ChatGPT wrote.

When did ChatGPT Sites launch?

ChatGPT Sites launched in public beta on July 9, 2026. OpenAI's release notes for that day say Business and Enterprise customers could start publishing Sites publicly, the beta was rolling out to Pro, Pro Lite, and Edu, and Plus users would follow “over the coming days.” Free and Go were left out then and still are.

Is ChatGPT Sites available in the UK or the EU?

It wasn't at launch. The July 9, 2026 release notes say “Public publishing and the expanded beta rollout are not available in the EEA, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom at launch.” OpenAI's pages read on October 21, 2026 don't say whether that has changed; its pricing docs say only that availability depends on your plan, region, and workspace settings. Where Sites isn't available, ChatGPT can still write the page as one HTML file for you to publish on a host such as Convika.

Is ChatGPT Sites good for a business site?

ChatGPT Sites can host a business site, under specific conditions. OpenAI's ChatGPT Sites Terms let you sell through a third-party payment processor you connect and maintain, but the Site itself cannot process payment-card data. You are responsible for fulfillment, refunds, support, and taxes. For a site your business depends on, weigh 2 more points: Sites is a beta service whose shared usage limits can stop you creating new Sites, and the terms let OpenAI remove a Site “at any time for any reason.” Convika's terms allow commercial use on every plan, Free included, and Free includes 10,000 pageviews a month; a Free page stops 7 days after reaching 10,000 in a month, until the month ends or you upgrade. In a workspace created before October 23, 2026 (Japan time), this starts on November 1, 2026.

ChatGPT Sites vs Claude artifacts: which can I share publicly?

You can share a ChatGPT Site fully publicly. Set its access to “Anyone on the internet,” and anyone with the address can open it. In Enterprise workspaces an admin has to turn on public publishing first. An artifact shared with Claude's Share button opens only for people signed in to Claude. Claude's help center says “Everyone needs a Claude account. People without one can't open a shared artifact, even with the link.” The exceptions are older artifacts published from a chat and public links from Claude Code, and Claude's Free plan cannot share new artifacts by link. To put a Claude artifact on a public address, download its HTML and publish it on a host; the guide how to share a Claude artifact as a link has the steps.

Can I put a page ChatGPT made on my own domain without paying for hosting?

Yes, you can put a page ChatGPT made on your own domain without paying for hosting. You pay a registrar for the domain, and the hosting can be free. On any ChatGPT plan, Convika's Free plan connects 1 subdomain such as www.yourbrand.com with a CNAME and a TXT record, and GitHub Pages connects a bare domain, though not for running a business. On Plus, Pro, or a workspace plan, ChatGPT Sites connects an apex domain or a subdomain you own, where custom domains are available.

Is there a ChatGPT app that can publish a website for me?

Yes, ChatGPT Sites can publish a landing page directly on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu. On Free or Go, ChatGPT writes the page in the chat but does not host it, so you upload the file to a host. Convika is not in ChatGPT's plugin directory. Claude, Claude Code, and Codex can save and publish pages to Convika directly through its MCP server.

What visitor stats does ChatGPT Sites show?

OpenAI's docs say the analytics view “shows total unique visitors and page views, plus both metrics over time,” with no script to add. You open it from More actions > Analytics on the Site, and it is available for Sites an Enterprise workspace does not own. For comparison, Cloudflare Web Analytics shows visits, pageviews, referrers, countries, and devices, and Convika shows visits, referrers, UTM campaigns, devices, countries, button clicks, and form entries.

Does Convika work with pages from Claude or Gemini?

Yes, Convika works with pages from Claude and Gemini. Convika hosts the HTML file whichever AI wrote it. See how to publish a Claude artifact and how to publish a Gemini Canvas page.

What does Convika's Free plan include?

Convika's Free plan includes 1 published page, 10,000 pageviews a month, 50 form entries a month, 1 custom subdomain, 90 days of visitor stats, and a small Convika bar at the bottom, with no credit card. Uploading a file uses no AI credits. Pro removes the bar and shows every form entry. Pro costs $12 a month.
