Which AI chatbots can publish a website for me? ChatGPT Sites, Claude, Gemini, Copilot compared

Quick answer

Only ChatGPT Sites, of the 4, hosts a website anyone can open: OpenAI's help, updated October 22, 2026, says “Anyone can open a public Site without signing in to ChatGPT,” from Plus at $20 a month. A Claude Share link needs a Claude account, Gemini's opens only on gemini.google.com, and Copilot's needs a sign-in.

Only ChatGPT Sites, of the 4, hosts a website anyone can open: OpenAI's help article Creating and using ChatGPT Sites, updated October 22, 2026, says “Anyone can open a public Site without signing in to ChatGPT.” Sites starts at ChatGPT Plus, $20 a month, and “Sites is not available on Free or Go.” Claude, Gemini, and Copilot share what they make as a link inside their own apps: a Claude Share link needs a Claude account, a Gemini link opens only on gemini.google.com, and a Copilot link needs a Microsoft sign-in.

Each vendor's help pages were read on October 23, 2026: OpenAI's Sites help (updated October 22, 2026), its Sites docs, and the ChatGPT Sites Terms (updated July 23, 2026); Anthropic's Share artifacts (updated September 23, 2026) and Claude Code's artifacts docs (updated October 21, 2026); Google's Canvas help and chat sharing help, which carry no date; and Microsoft's Share conversations and responses in Microsoft Copilot (dated September 8, 2026). OpenAI's help center refuses plain downloads, so its pages were read in a headless browser; every page above could be read in full. Prices are in US dollars.

ChatGPT Sites: a public website on paid plans

ChatGPT Sites “lets you create, preview, publish, and share interactive websites and lightweight apps.” It is “available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro accounts and supported Business and Enterprise workspaces,” and the help's FAQ says “Sites is not available on Free or Go.” OpenAI's pricing docs put Plus at $20 a month and say Sites “is included with eligible ChatGPT plans during public beta.”

  • Who can open it. A new Site is limited to you and your workspace admins. When you choose “Anyone on the internet,” it is public, and “Anyone can open a public Site without signing in to ChatGPT.” In Enterprise workspaces, an admin has to turn public publishing on first. Invited outside viewers sign in with the account that received access.
  • Its address. Each Site has a chatgpt.site address, and “Where custom domains are available,” you can connect “the apex domain or subdomain you want to use.” Sites doesn't register domains, and the Sites docs say custom domains “aren't available in Enterprise workspaces at launch.”
  • Forms, data, and stats. “Each Site's database can store up to 10 GB.” Sites records “total unique visitors and page views, plus both metrics over time,” except for Sites an Enterprise workspace owns.
  • Selling. “If you want to sell goods or services or collect payments through your ChatGPT Site, you can do so by using a third-party payment processor.” The Site must not process card data itself.
  • How long it stays up. The help names no expiry. You take a Site down by narrowing its access or deleting it. The ChatGPT Sites Terms, updated July 23, 2026, say OpenAI may “delete, remove, unpublish, or otherwise disable your ChatGPT Site, at any time for any reason,” and that “ChatGPT Sites is a Beta Service.”

Usage limits apply. Building or editing a Site “counts toward your Codex usage,” hosting is counted separately, and the help points you to “the limit message in Sites” instead of publishing each plan's limits. The page Is ChatGPT Sites free? covers plans, limits, and 5 hosts for a page made on Free or Go.

Artifacts you make in a Claude chat or from a template live on claude.ai. Anthropic's Share artifacts, updated September 23, 2026, gives the rule: “Everyone needs a Claude account. People without one can't open a shared artifact, even with the link. The only exception is a legacy artifact published from a chat.” Legacy artifacts are those made in a chat before September 16, 2026, per What are artifacts.

  • Plans. “Anyone with the link” is on Pro and Max, and on Team and Enterprise once an Owner turns on External sharing. Free can't share a new artifact by link. Claude's pricing puts Pro at $20 when billed monthly.
  • Claude Code's public links. According to Claude Code's docs, updated October 21, 2026, an artifact published from Claude Code can go to “a link that anyone on the internet can open, with no claude.ai sign-in required,” on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. Each one is “one self-contained page with no backend.” The Share artifacts page says it covers artifacts made “in Claude Code” too, so Anthropic's help article and Claude Code's docs disagree on this point.
  • Data. Storing data in an artifact is on Pro and up, and “Storage is either personal or shared.” In personal storage “Everyone keeps their own private data,” and in shared storage “Everyone sees and works with the same data.” So what a visitor saves is either private to that visitor or visible to everyone who opens the artifact.
  • Domains and stats. Neither Anthropic page mentions custom domains or visitor stats.
  • How long it stays up. Anthropic names no end date. A link works until you stop sharing it or delete the artifact. In Claude Code, deleting an artifact means “Its link stops working for everyone, including you.”

To put a Claude artifact on a link anyone opens, the guide How to share a Claude artifact as a link has the steps.

In Canvas, Share & export then Share gives you a g.co/gemini/share link. Google's Canvas help says “Shared links only open in gemini.google.com. You can't open shared Canvas content in the Gemini mobile app.”

  • Who can open it. Google's chat sharing help says “Anyone with the link can read the chat, even if you didn't share the link with them directly.” Neither page says whether a viewer has to sign in to a Google account.
  • Plans. Google's Canvas overview says “Canvas is available for all Gemini users,” and the help adds “To use this feature, you must be signed in to Gemini Apps.” In a Google Workspace account, an administrator can turn conversation sharing off, and since May 28, 2026, Workspace users can also share through Google Drive's sharing settings (Google Workspace Updates).
  • Data. When you share an app, “Anyone with that public link can view and edit data associated with the app.”
  • How long it stays up. “Your links are publicly available for as long as the associated chat is saved in your Gemini Apps Activity.” By default, Gemini Apps Activity “older than 18 months is auto-deleted.”
  • Domains and stats. Neither page mentions a custom domain or visitor stats.

The guide How to host a Gemini Canvas website moves the code to an address of your own.

Microsoft's sharing help, dated September 8, 2026, covers personal and work accounts: “In either case, recipients must sign in before they can view the shared content.” A work or school link opens for people in your organization, and a personal account's link for people who sign in with a Microsoft account. “Shared conversations and responses are snapshots.” A link stops working when you stop sharing it or delete the conversation.

Copilot's other ways to share stay inside Microsoft 365:

  • Copilot Pages. Share a Microsoft Copilot Page (dated September 25, 2026): “Colleagues will only have access to this singular page, which will open in Loop.” On a personal account, Pages “is available if you're a Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium, or Pro subscriber.”
  • App Builder (Frontier). Build apps with Microsoft Copilot (dated October 12, 2026): “Send this link to anyone in your organization who can use Microsoft Copilot.”
  • HTML pages in SharePoint. Create, upload, edit, and publish HTML pages in SharePoint (dated October 12, 2026): “Publishing makes the current version visible to people who have permission to view the page; it doesn't grant new permissions.”

None of these pages describes a public website or a custom domain. The guide Share a Copilot HTML page without sign-in covers getting Copilot's HTML onto a link anyone opens.

Hosts that publish the page with no account to open it

If your chatbot wrote the page as HTML, any web host can put it on a link anyone opens. 4 options, on who can open the page and what it costs:

HostWho can open the pageYour own domainBusiness useCost
ChatGPT SitesAnyone, once the Site is public; no ChatGPT sign-inAn apex domain or subdomain, where availableYes, selling through a third-party payment processorIncluded in Plus ($20 a month) and up
Convika FreeAnyone with the link, no account. A Free page is Public, so it may show up in search results and in Convika's gallery; a private link comes with Pro or the 1-year pass1 subdomain, such as wwwYes, in section 7 of its termsFree; Pro is $12 a month

Publish the page your chatbot wrote on Convika

Convika hosts one HTML page per site, with a form that keeps entries and visitor stats, whichever chatbot wrote it. Get the page out as one HTML file: ask ChatGPT for “the whole page in one HTML file” in a regular chat; download or copy the code of a Claude artifact; open Code in Gemini's Canvas panel; or copy the code from Copilot's answer.

The box above puts the page on a private Convika preview link in seconds, with no signup. The link works for 3 minutes, and the page's scripts and forms stay off until you keep it with a free account. To publish, sign up free, click Upload an HTML file, drop the .html file (up to 2 MB) or paste the code, click Create my preview, check the page, and click Publish.

  • No account to open it. A published page opens in any browser, on a phone too, for people without ChatGPT, Claude, Google, or Microsoft accounts.
  • A form that keeps entries only you see. Free shows 50 entries a month (more are kept, shown when you upgrade), emails you each one, and exports a CSV. The entries go to your dashboard, not onto the page.
  • Visitor stats. Visits, referrers, UTM campaigns, devices, countries, and button clicks, for 90 days.
  • Your own subdomain. 1 subdomain on Free, such as www.yourbrand.com. Convika connects subdomains only.
  • A stated limit. Free includes 10,000 page views a month. At that count, editing and stats pause, and 7 days later the page stops until the month ends or you upgrade. Workspaces created before October 23, 2026, 00:00 Japan time, get this rule from November 1, 2026.

Claude, Claude Code, and Codex can also save and publish pages to Convika through its MCP server.

Which one to pick

  • You pay for ChatGPT Plus or more, and want ChatGPT to build and keep changing the site: ChatGPT Sites.
  • You want a link for people who already use Claude, such as your team: Claude's Share link.
  • You want to show a Canvas to people who use Gemini: Gemini's share link.
  • You're sharing inside your company's Microsoft 365: Copilot Pages or App Builder.
  • The page must open for anyone, on any chatbot plan, with a form and visitor stats: download the HTML and publish it on Convika's Free plan.

Frequently asked questions

Can ChatGPT publish a website?

Yes, with ChatGPT Sites on Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise. Set its access to “Anyone on the internet,” and “Anyone can open a public Site without signing in to ChatGPT.” It is not on Free or Go. On those plans, ChatGPT can still write the page as one HTML file for you to publish on a host such as Convika.

Can Claude publish a website?

No, not one anyone can open from a Claude chat. A Claude Share link opens only for people signed in to Claude, and Claude Free can't share new artifacts by link. Claude Code's docs say its public links open with no sign-in, on Pro and up, as one page with no backend. To get a link anyone opens, download the artifact's HTML and publish it on a host.

Can Gemini publish a website?

No, not at an address of its own. Canvas gives you a g.co/gemini/share link, and Google says “Shared links only open in gemini.google.com.” Google doesn't say whether a viewer must sign in, and names no custom domain. Copy the code from Canvas and host it to give it a web address.

Can Microsoft Copilot publish a website?

No. A shared Copilot chat needs the viewer to sign in, Copilot Pages open in Loop for colleagues, App Builder shares inside your organization, and SharePoint HTML pages open for people who already have permission. To share outside, copy the HTML out of Copilot and publish it as a web page.

Do people need an account to open a page an AI chatbot shared?

Yes, for a Claude Share link and for a Copilot link. No, for a public ChatGPT Site. Google doesn't say for a Gemini link. A page published on a web host such as Convika, Netlify, or GitHub Pages opens with no account.

Can I use my own domain with an AI chatbot's website?

Yes, but only with ChatGPT Sites, and only where custom domains are available: connect an apex domain or subdomain you own through its DNS records. Anthropic, Google, and Microsoft don't mention custom domains for shared links. Convika's Free plan connects 1 subdomain, such as www.yourbrand.com, to a page any of the 4 wrote.

Is there a free AI chatbot that publishes a website?

No, not one that puts the site at a public address of its own. ChatGPT Sites starts at Plus, $20 a month. Gemini's share link is free with a signed-in account but opens only on gemini.google.com, and Claude Free can't share new artifacts by link. On any free chatbot plan, ask for the page as one HTML file and publish it on a free host.

No fixed expiry is named by any of the 4, with conditions. A Gemini link lasts as long as the chat stays in your Gemini Apps Activity, which is deleted after 18 months by default. OpenAI may remove a Site “at any time for any reason” during the beta. Claude and Copilot links work until you stop sharing or delete the item.

Can I collect form entries on a page an AI chatbot published?

Yes, on ChatGPT Sites, which stores records in the Site's database. Claude's shared storage and a shared Gemini app keep data that everyone with access can see; Gemini says anyone with the public link “can view and edit data associated with the app.” Convika's form sends entries to your dashboard, where only your workspace sees them.

Can I publish a page from ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini on a free plan?

Yes. Download the page as one HTML file and upload it to Convika's Free plan: 1 published page, 10,000 page views a month, a form that shows 50 entries a month, and 1 custom subdomain, with no credit card.
